broner#1 - Copy by Robert Uzzell: I keep having this eerie feeling that Floyd Mayweather is going to go for it in the final fights of his career. I’ve never subscribed to the fact that Mayweather has ducked or dodged opponents in the past. For every time someone has mentioned this, one merely has to look at Mike Tyson not fighting Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield at times in his career. We can look at the fact that Ray Leonard ignored Aaron Pryor’s and Mike McCallum’s pleas for fights many years ago.

Mayweather has fought Miguel Cotto (a guy he allegedly ducked in the past), Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Robert Guerrero in four of his previous five fights. Guerrero was a hot fighter who had gone 15 fights without a loss. He was also a six-time world champion in four different weight classes.

Where next for “Special One” Kell Brook?

brook22 brook22 By Shaun Campbell: Kell Brook impressively closed a chapter on his career Saturday night by stopping the durable Carson Jones in their 152 pound rematch. Brook now moves in to the elite level by beating the gatekeeper Jones. It was a good performance from “The Special One”, although he himself claimed it was “nothing to get excited about”. The fight started off much like their first encounter with Brook dominating behind the jab, while Jones kept plodding forward. But the Sheffield fighter couldn’t seem to miss with his sweeping right hook and in the 2nd round he sent Jones to the canvas.

It seemed as thought it would be an early night for Brook. But the American is tough, and after a slow start began to loosen up and land on Brook, doing damage to his nose. But Brook remained calm and controlled the action at a measured pace. Should he have chose to step it up earlier, the stopped could have probably come much sooner. But in the 8th a series of unanswered punches by Brook forced the referee to call a halt, prompting complaints from Jones.

Avalos decisions Francisco; Tapia defeats Han in a war

tapia12 tapia12 Using a high volume punching attack, super bantamweight contender Chris Avalos (23-2, 16 KO’s) outworked the quicker and harder hitting Drian Francisco (24-2-1, 19 KO’s) in winning a 10 round unanimous decision tonight at the Texas Station Casino, Las in Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Francisco looked like the better fighter, but he didn’t have the engine to throw as many punches as Avalos and that ultimately was the deciding factor in the fight. The judges’ scored it 96-94, 97-93 and 97-93.

A lot of people on forums seem to really tear apart any boxer that gets into the ring no one is ever good enough there is always something or some one they have not faced.

In Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) we are lucky enough to have witnessed a true genius in the ring during our time it’s such a shame though that there not seen for how truly great they are while there still active. Take Muhammad Ali for instance he was ridiculed during his career and disliked it was only once the dust had settled we realized just how truly great an artist we had seen.

I say artist as he made it seem like art the way he moved and picked off his opponents one by one. This is happening all over the Internet currently with Mayweather but I just can’t understand it if you look at the majority of his opponents running up to the fight there built up and built up as soon as Floyd signs to fight them a slow flow of breaking down begins until fight night when there taken apart fully and then after people are straight away saying there weak and should never have been in the ring!

Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin set for October 5, in Moscow

wladimir3 IBF/IBO Heavyweight Champion, WBO/WBA Heavyweight Super Champion and „The Ring Magazine“ World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko will meet with WBA “regular” Heavyweight Champion Alexander Povetkin at the SC Olimpiyskiy arena in Moscow (Russia) on October 5.

After extended negotiations an agreement for one of the most eagerly awaited world boxing bouts between two Olympic and reigning heavyweight champions has finally been reached.

For 37-year-old Wladimir Klitschko it is the second appearance in the boxing ring in 2013. In his last fight in May he defeated Francesco Pianeta by TKO 6. The professional record of the 1996 Olympic Gold medalist is 60 wins (52 KOs) with only 3 losses. It will be Klitschko’s 24rd World Championship fight.

floyd#3 floyd#3 By Chip Mitchell: Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer alleges that he’s been actively negotiating a September showdown between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, a fighter almost 15 years his junior.

The sticking point seems to be at which weight the fight will take place. Neither side appears to be backing down, as Alvarez, who fights at 154 and Mayweather at 147 stand firm.

What’s also interesting is that if the fight doesn’t get done, both sides have affirmed that they will keep the September 14 date as their own. Could we be headed toward head-to-head pay per views on September 14? According to Alvarez, with or without Mayweather, his intention is to fight on September 14.

By Matthew Mellan: Chris Eubank Sr, from the fighting Eubank family – that includes elder twin brothers Peter and Simon, cousins Bobbie Joe Edwards and Frank, and sons Chris Jr and Sebastian – was one of the most successful non-U.S. fighters in the history of the sport of boxing.

The first time I remember watching Eubank fight was as a teenaged, Bronx-based Englishman taking on teak-tough Eric Holland on SportsChannel America in what was the pro debut for ‘The Rock’ Holland and also the first and last time he would ever go down – in the gym, amateurs or 59 pro outings; Eubank knocked him down in the 4th round of a four-round boxing masterclass in which he jabbed his opponents face off (not literally), moved nicely and flurried nicely.

Peterson vs. Matthysse: Possible FOTY?

Thompson: While March’s clash between Timothy Bradley and Ruslan Provodnikov stands as the clear favorite for Fight of the Year (with honorable mention to Alvarado vs. Rios), this Saturday’s bout between IBF light welterweight champion Lamont “Havoc” Peterson (31-1-1, 16 KO’s) and “interim” WBC light welterweight champ Lucas Martin Matthysse (33-2, 31 KO’s) seems bound to produce the kind of fireworks which might put it in contention.

The match will be fought at a catch-weight of 141 lbs. meaning that Peterson cannot lose his title regardless of the outcome, though Matthysse loses the interim title should he fail to win. The bout will be televised live on Showtime from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
