Michael Oliveira 81[1] Light Middleweight Contender, Michael “The Brazilian Rocky” Oliveira, (21-1, 16KOs), puts his career back on track after it was temporality derailed with his first professional loss to four-time, two division world champion, Brazilian icon, Accelino “Popo” Freitas, (39-2, 33KOs); by winning four consecutive bouts in which he garnered the vacant World Boxing Association (“WBA”) Fedebol Light Middleweight Title and the vacant World Boxing Counsel (“WBC”) Fecarbox Light Middleweight Title. He successfully defended these two straps, twice.

Oliveira, born in Sao Paulo, Brazil but moved to Miami, Florida when he was two weeks ago, is ranked number six by the WBC and number seven by the WBA. He looks to move up the ranking in his division, as he’s tentatively scheduled to fight, Omar “El Businessman” Chavez, (30-2-1, 22KOs), on October 12 in Las Vegas, Nevada, in an intriguing bout between two up and coming boxers.

Barker Defeats Geale in a Thriller

barker100 Darren “Dazzling” Barker and Daniel “The Real Deal” Geale fought an all out action packed twelve round bout that could be considered one of the fights of the year; in which Barker earned the hard fought split decision victory over Geale to become the new International Boxing Federation (“IBF”) Middleweight Champion. Barker garnered two scorecards of 116-111 and 114-113 while Geale received the other scorecard of 114-113.

This fight was televised by HBO Boxing After Dark from the Revel Casino – Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Barker from England improved his record to 26-1, 16KOs with the victory and has won three consecutive fights since his lone loss as a professional when he was stopped by current World Boxing Council Middleweight Champion and one of the pound for pound best fighters in the world, Sergio Martinez in the eleventh round.

Iraq War Veteran, Chris Traietti scored a six round knockout over Dion Stanley as the referee stopped the bout at 1:11 after Traietti landed several combinations that had Stanley down for the second time in the fight, the other knockdown was in the fifth round.

As a young child, he survived on the tough streets of East Cleveland, Ohio without any parents, who were dealing with substance abuse issues, living with one family member after another, until his older sister, Raviele took custody of him, when she was only 17 years old. Even after Raviele became Nelson`s guardian, life was still extremely difficult, as they struggle daily to make ends meet.

“I owe a great deal of my success in life to Raviele who sacrificed her life, so that she could take care of me and my younger siblings and that is why every time I step into the ring, I’m not only boxing for myself but I’m also fighting for my four children and my siblings,” said Nelson. “God only know where I would be in life if Raviele didn’t take custody of me, but I know I wouldn’t be where I’m, if it was not for her.”

Mikkel Kessler vs. Carl Froch II: Expect a great fight!

_SJ198919ac744 The long awaited rematch between Mikkel “The Viking Warrior” Kessler (46-2, 35KOs) and Carl “The Cobra” Froch (30-2, 22KOs) will take place this Saturday, May 25th at the O2 Arena (Millennium Dome) in Greenwich, London, United Kingdom. The bout will be televised on HBO at 6:00p.m. ET and Kessler’s World Boxing Association World Title and Froch’s International Boxing Federation World Title will be on the line.

The last time these two men meet in the ring was in Herning, Demark, on April 24, 2010, as Kessler earned a hard fought 12 round unanimous decision during the Super Six Showtime Boxing Tournament by three scorecards of 117-111, 115-113 and 116-112. This was a great, competitive, back and forth bout in which both fighters had their moments. Kessler slightly outland and outpunch Froch, however, the fight was a bit closer than the scorecards indicated.

The trash talking, extremely confident, undefeated Irish Heavyweight Champion and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental Heavyweight Title Holder, Tyson Fury (20-0, 14KOs) believes he`ll be the pugilist to end the Klitschko`s reign in the heavyweight division.

“The heavyweight division, especially the Klitschko brothers are no good. They are all bums. All pins, should would have beens and I`ll knockout all of them and clean up this division once and for all,” said the 6’9” 250 pound, Fury. “We need a change in the heavyweight division and I`m going to bring that change soon.”

398842_409284942426286_233815418_n By James Stillerman – “Irish” Joe McCreedy (13-6-2, 6KOs) will leave it all on the line this Saturday night, in a do or die fight against Michael “Flash” Walchuk (9-8, 2OKs) in front of his hometown crowd at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell. This will be a eight round bout for the vacant U.S. Northeast Light Heavyweight belt, in a fight if he does not win, he might contemplate retirement.

“This is a significant fight for me because if I lose than I`m taking a major step back and I might retire,” said McCreedy. “Nevertheless, I want to prove everyone wrong with this fight by winning and getting back to bigger and better fights. The media thinks my career is over and that I`m washed up after my last performance, but I like being the underdog with my back against the wall. I`m going to prove everyone wrong and show that I`m a force at the light heavyweight division, starting this Saturday against Walchuk.”

In order for McCreedy`s career to continue in the right direction, he`s going to have to defeat the tough Canadian, Walchuk who is aggressive and has good power punching. Walchuk has been in with the likes of Vladine Boisse and undefeated fighters like Francy Ntetu, Eleider Alvarez and Adam Trupish, making his record deceiving.
