Bellew’s ‘Credibility Fight’: Mateusz Masternak on Dec 12

Bellew's 'Credibility Fight': Mateusz Masternak on Dec 12

British cruiserweight contender, Tony Bellew (25-2-1, 16ko), attempts a credible step toward his eventual goal of a cruiserweight world title, facing Poland’s Mateusz Masternak (36-3, 26ko) on Matchroom Sport’s, Dec. 12, ‘Bad Intentions’ show from London’s O2.

Bellew’s promoter Eddie Hearn had promised that the Scouser would be in a ‘credibility fight’ on the show that is headlined by Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte’s British heavyweight title clash, and he has found a decent enough foe in Masternak, who, like Bellew, is ranked within the top 10, WBA/IBF/WBO and #15, WBC.

Froch: Predictably Flirting With Comeback Idea

Froch: Predictably Flirting With Comeback Idea

After teasing fans with the possibility of a final career fight with Gennady Golovkin before just as quickly retiring earlier this year, former super middleweight champion, Carl Froch, is now [predictably] prepared to go back on his promise of never fighting again, insisting he is flirting with the idea of a comeback.

The Marmite-like Froch, a granite chinned warrior in the ring, but an oft-abrasive and divisive personality outside of it, has been entertaining and irritating viewers of Sky Sports in equal measure in his latest role as a pundit and on-screen analyst, although judging by his latest comments it seems he isn’t finding life on the other side of the ropes as satisfying as he at first thought he might do.

Atlas: I’d Like Mayweather for Bradley

Atlas: I'd Like Mayweather for Bradley

Tim Bradley’s new trainer, Teddy Atlas, is potentially getting far too carried away with his new charge’s dominant performance over Brandon Rios last night, suggesting he would like the newly retired Floyd Mayweather to fight him next.

Atlas is being credited with reinvigorating Bradley in the wake of his split from long time trainer, Joel Diaz, and although his performance against Rios was stylish and dominant, it was clearly more down to Rios not showing up than it was anything Atlas did in the build-up, especially given their short time together and the fact Bradley entered the fight a considerable favourite in any case.

Rios: Shrugs Off Bradley Loss With a Customary ‘F*** It!’

Rios: Shrugs Off Bradley Loss With a Customary 'F*** It!'

After his comprehensive stoppage defeat at the hands of WBO welterweight champion, Tim Bradley, last night, Brandon Rios publicly called time on his career, insisting he just couldn’t ‘pull the trigger,’ and shrugged off the loss with a customary, ‘f*** it!’

Rios had tried in the build up to suggest he wasn’t done yet, and that he had plenty left in the tank, yet it became evident quickly that 10 frustrating months out of the ring had helped kill any desire ‘Bam Bam’ had left, and he had just been paying lip-service with comments about dragging Bradley into a war.

Bradley: ‘With Atlas a 3rd Pacquiao Fight Could Be Different’

Bradley: 'With Atlas a 3rd Pacquiao Fight Could Be Different'

WBO welterweight champion, Tim Bradley, was full of praise for new trainer, Teddy Atlas, after last night’s stylish victory over Brandon Rios, going so far as to suggest a third fight with Manny Pacquiao, ‘could possibly be different’ with him in the corner.

In the build-up to this Rios fight, Bradley made much of the fact that Atlas had managed to reinvigorate him and totally change his approach, executing a perfect game-plan through studying past-footage and mistakes, and then correcting those errors in the gym.

Callum Smith: Chasing World Title in 2016

Liverpool’s super-middleweight contender, Callum Smith (18-0, 13ko) claimed the vacant British title in ferocious style last night with his blitzing of previously unbeaten Rocky Fielding, promising 2016 will be his year to claim a world title.

WBC #1, Smith, took less than a round to become the fourth of his family of fighting brothers to capture the coveted Lonsdale belt, and will be looking to follow hot on the world title winning heels of brother Liam, who recently captured WBO 154 lb honours.

Cotto: ‘I Have Nothing Left to Prove’

Cotto: 'I Have Nothing Left to Prove'

Puerto Rican living legend, and WBC middleweight champion, Miguel Cotto has claimed he is relaxed and happy going into his crunch clash with Canelo Alvarez later this month, and regardless of outcome, feels he has nothing left to prove in his career.

While the 34 year old Cotto has certainly achieved beyond all expectation – being the only Puerto Rican to win world titles in four weight classes, his latest comments will not inspire any hope in fans desperate to see the sought after clash with Kazakh IBF/WBA 160 lb champion, Gennady Golovkin, should he first come past Alvarez in Las Vegas on the 21st.

Rios: I Took a Sh** and Made Weight!

Rios: I Took a Sh** and Made Weight!

Brandon Rios came in slightly over and looked gaunt at yesterday’s weight-in for his welterweight showdown with WBO champion, Tim Bradley tonight in Vegas, taking the marginal extra weight off after visiting the bathroom.

Rios weighed in at 147.2 lbs, repeating problems on the scales he has had previously in his career when down at 135, notably against Richar Abril and Britain’s John Murray.

Fury: 'I'm In the Shape of my Life for Klitschko'

Tyson Fury says that he is the shape of his life ahead of his Nov. 28, challenge to dominant heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, in Germany, posting pictures on social media from camp that are proof positive of his claims.

A trim looking Fury has spoken to Sky Sports ahead of the fight to reaffirm his seriousness about attempting to dethrone the champion, shutting down those who had questioned the 6’9″ Brit’s commitment to getting in shape when the fight was first officially announced.

Bradley: Ready to Show Off Improvements Under Atlas

Bradley: Ready to Show Off Improvements Under Atlas

It would appear that WBO welterweight champion, Tim Bradley’s new trainer Teddy Atlas, has taken the lion’s share of headlines ahead of tonight’s HBO clash with Brandon Rios, though Bradley claims he is more than fine with that and fans will see the fruits of their labour in the ring.

It was following June’s fight with Jessie Vargas – in which Bradley was badly buzzed in the dying seconds – that ‘Desert Storm’ dropped long-time cornerman, Joel Diaz, in favour of the limelight-friendly Atlas, who famously overshadowed Michael Moorer’s hard fought 1994 victory over Evander Holyfield with his animated words between rounds.
