Joined by his trainer Abel Sanchez and promoter Tom Loeffler, Golovkin traveled to Mexico City this week to meet with his fans and thank them for the support they have given him throughout his career and especially in the lead up and aftermath of his September 16 title defense against Canelo Alvarez. Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs), boxing’s longest-reigning active world champion, has successfully defended the middleweight title 19 times — one short of the record — since 2010.

Sulaiman: “Gennady Golovkin – Champion Of Champions!”
By Mauricio Sulaiman – It would be impossible not to dedicate this week’s column to Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Saturday night in Las Vegas at the T Mobile Arena, Golovkin finally received the world recognition as the best fighter in the middleweight division and one of the best in the world. Canelo Alvarez fought GGG in a very entertaining fight that had the sold-out arena chanting throughout, hoping that Alvarez would bring back those glory days of Mexican warriors like Salvador Sanchez, Julio Cesar Chavez, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Juan Manuel Marquez and win the fight of his life precisely on Mexican Independence Day. It didn’t happen.

The actions which have been seen all over the world, in which Mr. Dawson attacks and punches with bare fists fighter Jose Uzcategui have created regrettable damages to our sport.
The WBC rejects any form of foul play, aggression and behavior. We will seek a meeting with Mr. Dawson to offer several forms of help to address this grave situation.
Canelo, Chavez Jr: WBC Creates New Belt
By Mauricio Sulaiman – The highly-anticipated fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has caught the world’s attention and will certainly be a great success. T-Mobile Arena was sold out immediately, the pay-per-view is expected to be over 1 million homes, and both major TV Networks in Mexico – Televisa and Azteca – will air the fight, which will break all existing records of TV audience in the history of Mexico. So, in essence, it is a monumental success.
The WBC is extremely proud of both fighters, two Mexican warriors who have taunted each other for six years and now will have the opportunity to claim to be Mexico’s representative to the world.
