Amir Khan-Jeff Horn: Who wins?

Amir Khan-Jeff Horn: Who wins?

Jeff Horn is one of the hottest and most talked about fighters in boxing right now, courtesy of his big, big upset win over ageing superstar Manny Pacquiao. While we fans await “The Hornet’s” next move – will it be a return meeting with Pac Man, a Horn Dream Fight with “Money” Mayweather – British fight fans also await the ring return of Amir Khan.

Amir Khan on Kell Brook’s planned return: If he fights me that could be a third loss and bad for his health

Amir Khan on Kell Brook's planned return: If he fights me that could be a third loss and bad for his health

It’s been said more than a few times and by more than a few, that British stars Amir Khan and Kell Brook have no remaining big fight in their respective careers other than one against each other.

As fans know, former IBF welterweight champ Brook is coming off two painful stoppage defeats, to Gennady Golovkin and, just under two months ago, Errol Spence Jnr. Khan, the former 140 pound champ, has not fought since being taken out by Canelo Alvarez 14 months ago. But though Brook is planning to return, hopefully, he says, before the end of the year, Khan is reluctant to finally face him in what would still be a genuine all-British blockbuster.

Amir Khan-Kell Brook: Still a great fight? Still 50/50?

Amir Khan-Kell Brook: Still a great fight? Still 50/50?

Was it just me, or was Amir Khan struggling, at least a little bit, to hide the glee, the sense of satisfaction he had on Saturday night, when his long-time verbal tormentor/possible ring rival Kell Brook was badly beaten by Errol Spence Junior?

Khan, along with Tony Bellew (who also provided punditry duties for Sky Sports Box-Office) was critical of Brook’s decision to “quit” against the unbeaten, sizzling southpaw; the knee Brook opted to take in that 11th round, his eye in pain, his sight almost gone, being pretty much vilified by both fighters. Debate has raged since Saturday’s great fight: is Brook a quitter, or was he doing what anyone else with such a nasty, potentially life-changing injury would have done in the heat of battle (heat, we must remember, no armchair critic has ever come anywhere close to experiencing)?

Amir Khan: I hope Kell Brook can win tonight; we could meet at Wembley

Amir Khan: I hope Kell Brook can win tonight; we could meet at Wembley

Amir Khan has arrived in Sheffield, a guest pundit for Sky Sports, and the former 140 pound king has said he gives a slight edge to his countryman and possible future rival Kell Brook over Errol Spence Junior. Khan, when asked who he wanted to win tonight, answered Brook.

Khan said he sees Brook winning “a very tough fight,” and that if he does so, he could then fight the IBF welterweight champ in what would be a huge British super-fight. But does Khan really, truly want to fight Brook? This question has been asked now for a few years, and still we have no definitive answer. Brook definitely wants the fight, calling “Queen” Khan out so many times as he has done. But for whatever reason or reasons, Khan has not agreed to terms and signed on for the fight.

Hearn wants Brook-Khan after Spence fight

Hearn wants Brook-Khan after Spence fight

British promoter Eddie Hearn appears to be counting his chicks before they’ve hatched with him talking up a much hoped for fight between his fighter IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) and former light welterweight champion Amir “King” Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) for later this year in the UK if Brook can get past mandatory challenger Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (21-0, 18 KOs) tonight in their fight at Bramall Lane in Sheffield, England.

Amir Khan tells Keith Thurman to “forget Porter,” calls out the WBC/WBA welterweight champ for this year

Amir Khan has been pretty quiet as of late, ring activity-wise. But the former 140 pound ruler has had plenty to say, both on social media and on video. Khan has not boxed since he was brutally taken out by the bigger Canelo Alvarez last May, but this has not stopped him from calling out everyone from Manny Pacquiao to Danny Garcia.

Khan, who has undergone surgery on his right hand and has said a number of times how he cannot wait to “get in there and test it out,” is currently in training for his return. There is talk of a tune-up fight next, but Khan has always aimed high, looking for the biggest and best possible fights. The latest big name fight “King Khan” has called for is one with reigning and undefeated WBC/WBA 147 pound champion Keith Thurman.

Amir Khan talks possible Conor McGregor fight: In boxing I beat him quite easily but in MMA I think it might be tough

Amir Khan just cannot seem to get himself a fight. Idle since last May – when he was taken out by the much bigger Canelo Alvarez in a fight that has recently been branded a “foolish” move by Khan’s own trainer, Virgil Hunter – the former 140 pound king has seen both a Manny Pacquiao fight and a Kell Brook fight fail to come off (blame who you want for the latter fight failing to materialise).

Maybe due to his frustrations at not yet being able to test his “new,” surgically repaired right hand, Khan is now even talking about the possibility of fighting Conor McGregor, under either boxing or MMA rules! Speaking with ESNEWS, Khan said he’d “give it a go” if the fight was offered to him.

Revised plan now calls for Pacquiao to box in July and November; Khan, Crawford, Broner possible foes

Revised plan now calls for Pacquiao to box in July and November; Khan, Crawford, Broner possible foes

Manny Pacquiao has a new plan of action regarding the upcoming continuation of his Hall of Fame career. At least his promoter Bob Arum does. As fight fans may recall, Pac-Man was originally supposed to fight Australian puncher Jeff Horn in Australia in April. That fell through, as Pacquiao opted instead to face Britain’s Amir Khan in a huge money spinner in the UAE in May. That also fell through (at least the big money that was supposedly on the table fell through; leaving Khan, who said the funds “were in place” angry and without a fight).

Pacquiao-Khan fight “dead” says Bob Arum; but reports say Khan is still hopeful of landing the fight

Well, we can’t say promoter Bob Arum didn’t warn us. The Top Rank boss was always more than a little bit sceptical over the talked of $38 million super-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan actually taking place. Both fighters announced the fight on twitter as a done deal, with the fight set for April, then May 20, at a location to be determined; most likely in the UAE.

Manny Pacquiao-Amir Khan is on! Both fighters say “super-fight” will go ahead April 23

Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan have come to an agreement to fight on April 23rd, both fighters have confirmed via tweet. The venue for the WBO welterweight title fight is still to be confirmed – with the UAE, the US and the UK all possibilities – but Pac-Man says this is the fight “the fans want to see.”

Khan tweeted how terms have been agreed for what he feels is a “super-fight.” Khan recently topped the online poll Pacquiao put up asking fans who he should fight next, and Pac-Man has listened to his fans. A full announcement regarding venue is expected soon. Meanwhile, Khan – last seen being brutally KO’d by the much bigger Canelo Alvarez last May – is telling everyone he is sure he can beat his former spar-mate.
