“The fight for February 8th is completely signed and sealed from both of us.

fury54 fury54 David Haye and Tyson Fury will now meet on February 8th of next year, various media reports have confirmed. The fight, postponed due to Haye suffering a cut eye in sparring, will still take place at The Phones 4U Arena in Manchester.

Haye is delighted with the news:

“I was absolutely devastated this weekend, and felt as though I’d let a lot of people down. But now, with this new date, I couldn’t be happier,” Haye said. “My fans will still get the chance to see what they all wanted to see this weekend – they’ll get to see Tyson Fury sparked out in spectacular fashion. Fury might start to get brave now that he’s received a stay of execution – and he might call me names and accuse me of ducking him – but that will all be short-lived, I can promise you.

David Haye “gutted” at having to postpone Tyson Fury fight due to cut eye

If fans didn’t know already, September 28th’s all-British clash between Tyson Fury and David Haye has been postponed due to Haye suffering a cut above his left eye during training.

Haye suffered the injury on Friday evening and will require six stitches. According to reports, the stitches will remain in place for five to seven days and Haye is waiting on further medical advice when it comes to when he will be able to return to action.

Haye’s injury could be good thing for Tyson Fury

fury2222 With the news today about former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye suffering a cut during sparring for his fight next week against Tyson Fury, it means that the fight will be postponed or possibly be even cancelled depending on whether Team Fury still wants to reschedule. However, it might be in Fury’s best interest to forget about facing Haye altogether, because it’s not as if Fury stood a real chance at winning the fight.

The odds were heavily in Haye’s favor to the point where it was hardly worth it for Fury to take the fight. Let’s be honest here; does anyone really think that the 6’9″, fragile-chinned Fury had any actual chance to beat Haye in this fight?

Fury doesn’t have the power, speed or the chin to have any chance at beating a big puncher like Haye. That’s why this injury might actually be the best thing for Fury because it let’s him move on and save face at the same time. I mean, Fury now has a ready-made excuse for why he shouldn’t have to face Haye now, and no one will blame him if he moves on and resumes fighting the likes of Martin Rogan, Kevin Johnson and Vinny Maddalone-types.

Hennessy Sports and Hayemaker Boxing are delighted to announce that the official Fury vs. Haye weigh-in, scheduled for Friday, September 27, will take place inside the Phones 4 U Arena, Manchester, and be open to the general public.

There is a limited amount of free tickets released through the Phones 4 U Arena Box Office and also eventim.co.uk, which carry a booking fee of £2.50 per transaction up to four tickets and are on sale now.

The weigh-in itself will commence at 12.30pm (doors open at 11.30am) and every boxer scheduled to appear on the Fury vs. Haye fight card will tip the scales.

Of course, due to the expected high demand, fans are urged to snap up their tickets as soon as possible for this event.

Tyson Fury to use Steve Cunningham as sparring partner to get ready for David Haye

fury11 fury11 In somewhat of an odd move, heavyweight Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) will be using 37-year-old Steve Cunningham as one of his sparring partners to help him get ready for his September 28th fight against David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) at the Manchester Arena.

Fury defeated Cunningham last April in New York in a 7th round stoppage. Cunningham wasn’t too happy about the loss, because he felt that Fury had partially held him in place with a left hand while landing the knockout punch. There was no rematch to clear up the controversy, and now Fury has moved on to the Haye fight.

Kings who have inspired many nations, even ones like Scotland, to feel good about themselves. Unfortunately Britain lost a king in Audley Harrison recently, obviously due to extremely poor refereeing, but beside Audley there has been undue flak headed Tyson Fury’s way. In my eyes as a boxing purist he has done nothing wrong.

Coming back after being floored by an American to win via devastating clobbering is pretty impressive. It was a performance that Tyson Fury can take pride in, maybe a bit rough around the edges but nevertheless impressive, a bit like a Land Rover. Tyson Fury squashed America’s heavyweight title dream and I believe he is going to do the same thing to Cyprus resident David Haye.
