David Price believes his work with a sports psychologist can help propel him back into the mix for heavyweight glory.

The Liverpudlian banger makes his ring return against Istvan Ruszinski, live this Saturday on BoxNation, where he will enter the squared circle for the first time since his emphatic back-to-back defeats against American hitman Tony Thompson. The losses to Thompson last year came at a time when Price’s name was being touted as one of the genuine contenders to take over the throne of the dominant Klitschko brothers.

So crushing were the defeats for the British heavyweight that many speculated they could well have signalled the end for the rising pugilist.

LUCAS “BIG DADDY” BROWNE says he’s far from shocked with David Price’s decision to vacate the Commonwealth heavyweight title.

The hammer-fisted Aussie won the right to contest the crown when he halted Sheffield giant Richard Towers last month.

He was hoping to square off with Price in early 2014, but the Liverpudlian’s new promoters, Sauerland, yesterday confirmed that he’ll be relinquishing the championship along with his British belt.

Browne keeps busy against old foe Clarence Tillman on December 13 and will be ready for his title opportunity in the New Year.

“I can’t say I’m surprised that Price has vacated to be honest. If Tony Thompson can stop Price, I know I can too,” Lucas, 18-0 (16 KOs), said.

“I have a fight in a weeks’ time that I’m focusing on and I can’t wait to close 2013 with a bang before beginning 2014 with that title fight.

David Price picks Adam Booth as new trainer

price46 price46 After speaking and meeting with a number of world class boxing trainers, David Price has made up his mind on who will train him from here on in. Price, the British and Commonwealth champion, recently split with Franny Smith and he will now work with Adam Booth.

Boxing News Magazine’s web site has reported this news and Price, who must come back after back-to-back losses to Tony Thompson, told B N how he feels Booth is the man to bring out his true potential.

“It’s a fresh start,” Price said. “I can leave behind what has happened but know that I’ve learnt from it. I’ve got the passion back now and am looking forward to getting on shape and putting a few things right. I asked Adam if I could have a chat and perhaps get some advice. We did a few sessions together just to see how it would work, and then he agreed to train me. I’ve got a good feeling about this move, and truly believe Adam is the man to bring out my true potential.”

Fury will win the press conferences; Haye will win fight

This Thursday, Haye and Fury will be announcing the fight. The fight itself promises to be a rather easy one for Haye, because Fury hasn’t looked good against the mediocre opposition he’s faced thus during his 5 year pro career.

However, Fury should at least win the press conference this Thursday and all the remaining press conferences as well. Haye will likely let Fury do most of the talking in building this fight, because his chances of getting the better of Fury in the trash talking department are slim and none.

Fury is one of those types of fighters that are willing and ready to say anything. He tends to get heated when his opponents try and trash talk him back.

It’s unclear how serious the offer is from Fury, but if it’s a serious one it would be a tremendous test for the inexperienced Hughie.
