As boxing fans – be it writers, ticket buyers or the fighters themselves, we are all interested in good, solid, competitive and meaningful fights – as often as is humanly possible – preferably as part of our normal Sky package, terrestrial TV or even on a specific subscription fight channel like Boxnation – who provide the very best international content from America and beyond, week in, week out.

After a barrage of criticism over the quality of their ‘regular’ domestic cards and the decision to make ANY card of championship quality a PPV – I’m beginning to wonder just how well the buy rate is doing for this Saturday’s ‘Rule Brittannia’ show from London’s O2 – that in my eyes, is one of the very best British fight cards in a good long while.

Eddie Hearn: DeGale announcement coming next week

In an interview with IFL TV Eddie Hearn said that he was looking to have the DeGale- Andre Dirrell fight in the UK on April 25th and was confident that he could make that happen. He said regardless of whether they can make that date happen, he is looking to finalize the deal and would make an announcement in a weeks time. This announcement should lay out most of the details of that show and what the card will be made of and detail what the situation is between DeGale and Dirrell.

This is a great fight between two once beaten fighters, which will provide a new IBF champion regardless of who wins. Certainly this is a tough fight for the pair of them due to their styles, but an impressive win could set up a string of super fights against the other talents in the division such as George Groves, Anthony Dirrell, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and even Andre Ward.

Hearn hinting Khan may need to be B-side against Brook

If a fight between Amir Khan and IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook can take place next year, it might require for Khan to take the lesser money and accept being the B-side of the equation.

Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn is dropping some big hints that Khan may not get the money split that he once could have got if he had taken the fight against Brook before he captured the IBF 147 pound title last Saturday night against Porter.

In Hearn’s mind, the IBF strap and the win over Porter changes everything. Khan doesn’t have the IBF title and he not in the position to call the shots like he could have in the past.

“Obviously, before Khan should get the bigger end because he’s the bigger name,” Hearn said to IFL TV. “Khan never did great numbers on pay-per-view. When he went to Sheffield last time, they really didn’t sell any tickets.

Hearn thinks he can make Brook-Khan fight next year

If everything goes as planned we could see a fight between British welterweights Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) and IBF 147 pound champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) for early 2015 in a large stadium like the Wembley Stadium in London, UK.

Hearn is hoping that Khan will see the huge money that he can potentially make in the fight and decide to take it based on that. It’s pretty clear that Brook needs at least one more solid win under him before a fight between him and Khan could become a really huge event. To be sure, a Khan-Brook fight would be a big success in the UK, because many fans like the fight right now.

Hearn wants to match Froch v Golovkin at 168 in 2014

golovkin888 WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s 3rd round destruction of the UK’s Matthew Macklin last Saturday night has Eddie Hearn, the promoter for IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch, highly interested in staging a fight between Froch and Golovkin in 2014.

Hearn thinks he can put the fight together by mid-year in 2014 if everything goes right. There wouldn’t be a catch-weight it seems, as Hearn wants Golovkin to come up to 168 for the fight.

Hearn said to Sky Sports, “Golovkin is a freak of nature; he’s a beast. According to HBO he’d be willing to step up to super middleweight and a fight with Carl Froch would be just epic.

groves4534 Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn says his fighter Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves (18-0, 14 KO’s) feels that WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward is the only guy that Groves feels he can’t handle at 168.

Hearn said to ESPN “The only person he says he can’t beat yet is Andre Ward. That’s the only one that George says, ‘At the moment I wouldn’t challenge Ward but I’ll beat the rest of them.’ I keep saying, ‘Alright, George, let’s work on this, let’s keep work on this.’”

Hearn steering Frampton towards IBF or WBC titles; Quigg believes he’ll fight him soon

frampton22 By Michael Collins: Eddie Hearn of Mathroom Sport is positioning his fighter EBU super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (16-0, 11 KO’s) towards the vacant IBF and WBC 122 pound titles, and away from the WBA and WBO champions Guillermo Rigondeaux and Nonito Donaire following Frampton’s 9th round TKO win over former EBU super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez last Saturday night in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Quigg, the interim WBA super bantamweight champion, was at the fight last night and he believes he’ll get a shot against Frampton eventually.

Quigg told Sky Sports News “It’s going to happen. They [Frampton & Hearn] are talking about getting an IBF shot or a WBC shot, if there’s a world title on the line then it would be even bigger. But the fight will definitely happen. I want it and he wants it. It’s got to happen. The public wants it.”

Hearn: Cleverly's camp could have offered £10million to fight Froch, and the answer would still be no By Michael Collins: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) and his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport have reportedly turned down a huge £1million offer from Frank Warren for Froch to step up and fight WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (24-0, 11 KO’s) in a catchweight fight. Instead of taking that big payday for his fighter Froch and thrilled British boxing fans, Hearn has instead matched Froch up against American Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) in a fight that will take place on November 17th at the Capital FM Arena, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK.

Hearn told thesun.co.uk “His camp could offer £10m, the fight isn’t going to happen. It would be impossible for Carl Froch to move up to 175.”

That’s interesting because according to Warren he was open to having Cleverly fight Froch at a catchweight to make the fight happen. Froch wasn’t necessarily being asked to move up 7 pounds in weight to take on the 25-year-old unbeaten Cleverly at the full weight for light heavywweight at 175.
