IBF/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) did what everyone expected him to do in destroying an over-matched Dominic Wade (18-2, 12 KOs) in two rounds after putting him down three times on Saturday night at the Forum in Inglewood, California. The referee Jack Reiss stopped the fight after Wade was slow in getting up after the second knockdown in the 2nd round.
We are just hours away from Gennady Golovkin (34-0-0) defending his titles against the unbeaten Dominic Wade (18-0-0) at the Forum, in Inglewood, California. While Wade is most certainly a suitable opponent, it is hard to imagine anyone who is not a current champion with a five star resume to have the slightest chance against Golovkin. I am not, in any way, shape or form writing Wade off, especially not in a sport like boxing, where a split second or a miniscule mistake can end the night. Having said that, the mind, just like muscle memory, has a tendency to presume expectations to be met.

Both fighters looked like they were ready to step inside the ring and begin throwing punches in their fight this Saturday night on HBO.
Feared middleweight star Gennady Golovkin wants a number of things: a fight with middleweight world champ Canelo Alvarez, all four major alphabet titles at 160-pounds (GGG currently holds two of them; the WBA and the IBF, as well as the interim WBC belt) and, further down the road, the record for most successful consecutive middleweight title defences. Golovkin is preparing to defend his titles against undefeated mandatory challenger Dominic Wade on Saturday, April 23 at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles, California televised live on HBO beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT.
It has been more than 3 and a half years since middleweight powerhouse Gennady Golovkin made his HBO debut when he made easy work of Grzegorz Proksa. During the post fight interview with HBO’s Max Kellerman, Golovkin indicated that he was ready for a big time fight, and that anyone between 154 and 168 was a potential target. The words were bold, but the actions which followed told a different story – particularly when Golovkin’s team has declined opportunities to potential fight Andre Ward at 168 pounds, and on the other end of the spectrum, Canelo Alvarez at 155. To date, the “big drama show” Gennady has sought after against a marquee name has not come to fruition.
