Jarrell Miller to face Gerald Washington on Garcia-Broner card

Jarrell Miller to face Gerald Washington on Garcia-Broner card

The July 29 fight between Mikey Garcia and Adrien Broner is an excellent match-up, but the card just got even better with the addition of the heavyweight match-up that is unbeaten contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller against recent WBC title challenger Gerald Washington.

The vocal, entertaining and powerful Miller, 18-0-1(16) has fans talking, wondering just how good the New Yorker really is, and a fight with the once-beaten Washington, 18-1-1(12) might give us a little bit more of an idea. Washington gave WBC heavyweight king Deontay Wilder a decent enough test back in February, doing well until getting caught by something big in round five. Can Miller also stop the 35 year old who came to boxing quite late in life?

Newly crowned WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker is lining up his first title challenger for April 8, and there are at least three names in the running for the shot. Parker could fight a British foe in David Price or Hughie Fury, or he could face unbeaten New Yorker Jarrell Miller.

According to a piece on Sky Sports News, who spoke with Price, Parker’s people are keen on “showcasing” Parker in the UK, and would therefore prefer a British challenger for April. Bob Arum, who was quoted as speaking with Boxing Talk, said the April challenger will be either Price or “Big Baby” Miller.

Jarrell Miller: Of course I would fight Anthony Joshua and break his face in half

Fans will hopefully find out next week who IBF heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua will be fighting in his second title defence, set for November 26. Promoter Eddie Hearn tweeted how the opponent will be revealed week commencing Sept 26 (next Monday) – and one fighter who says he would take the fight and “break Anthony Joshua’s face in half,” is unbeaten New Yorker Jarrell Miller.

Speaking with Sky Sports, “Big Baby,” as the 18-0-1(16) contender is known, says he should have been on the short-list to next challenge A.J, along with Kubrat Pulev, Bermane Stiverne and Joseph Parker. Miller has been calling Joshua out for some time now and he is certain he has too much heart for the 17-0(17) Londoner.

Jarrell Miller: is he ready for a title shot?

Jarrell Miller: is he ready for a title shot?

Jarrell Miller, who improved to 18-0-1(16) with last night’s stoppage of the usually durable and tricky Fred Kassi, has got people talking, quite a lot of people. The big – very big at 296-pounds and 6’4” – heavyweight is talented, exciting to watch, powerful and he has, as he says himself, a big mouth he is not afraid to use. With a background in MMA, this no doubt testing his toughness, “Big Baby,” as the Brooklyn slugger is known, has shown plenty as a boxer.

Jarrell Miller says “more than 80-percent of America” doesn’t know who WBC champ Deontay Wilder is

He’s got a big mouth and he’s not afraid to use it. No, not Tyson Fury, but another unbeaten heavyweight: New York’s Jarrell Miller. Miller is a colorful talker and fighter with power, and he is slowly building up a fan base with his trash-talking and his impressive KO wins. The latest to come under attack – of the verbal kind – from “Big Baby,” as Miller is curiously nicknamed, is reigning WBC heavyweight king Deontay Wilder.

Miller, 17-0-1(15) says the majority of fight fans in America do not know who Wilder is, while the 27-year-old has also criticized Wilder’s next challenger, Mexican/American warrior Chris Arreola. Speaking with Sky Sports, Miller – who has been compared to the great Riddick Bowe by some impressed experts – said the upcoming July 16th fight is “crap.”

Further good news for those fans who feel the Brooklyn talent is the next big thing in a heavyweight division that has been referred to by many as “wide open,” comes with Miller’s plans to stay active. “Big Baby,” as Miller, 17-0-1(15) is curiously nicknamed, fought just a week ago – crushing an overmatched Nick Guivas inside a couple of rounds – yet he is scheduled to be back in action on August 19th, his manager Greg Cohen told ESPN.com.

1+2+3 adds up to success for Shobox: The Next Generation

Rob “Bravo” Brant, 18-0-0 (11KO) from St. Paul, MN had a tough test at the Celebrity Theater, Phoenix, AZ with upset minded Louis “Unknown” Rose 13-3-1 (5KO) out of Lynwood, Calif. Physically, they matched up pretty close with Rose enjoying a slight edge in reach. Neither man is a big puncher, but Brant proved to be the crisper more snappy puncher. Rose consistently missed the target with his, which was something the judges noted. Many of the rounds in this ten round fight were very close, and arguably could have been scored either way. Brant came into the fight as the favorite, with the better pro record and amateur experience, but Rose fought the better competition. He pulled off wins over four undefeated fighters and planned to make it a fifth on Showbox.
