IBF World lightweight champion Robert Easter Jr. (21-0, 14 KOs) retained his IBF title in beating former super featherweight champion Javier Fortuna (33-2-1, 23 KOs) by a 12 round split decision on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The scores were 114-113, 115-112 for Easter and 114-113 for Fortuna.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but sometimes, I find myself wanting to watch something a little predictable on TV or in the theater. Don’t get me wrong-I have nothing against plot twists or character development and certainly enjoy watching shows that contain those elements. Still, I find it fun to occasionally watch something where the outcome is a foregone conclusion, just because I know it will contain enough entertaining moments to make it worth my time.

Danny “Swift” Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs) got his tune-up fight against Samuel Vargas (25-3-1, 13 KOs) out of the way on Saturday night in beating him by a 7th round TKO in front of his Philly fans at the Lacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 28-year-old Garcia bludgeoned the hapless Vargas against the ropes in the 7th until the fight was halted by referee Gary Rosato. It was too one-sided for Rosato to let the mismatch continue. The official time of the stoppage was at 2:17 of round 7.
