Who has a better chance of ruling the world again: Amir Khan or Kell Brook?

Who has a better chance of ruling the world again: Amir Khan or Kell Brook?

British stars Amir Khan and Kell Brook both had a tough time of things back in 2017 (Happy New Year!) – Brook being beaten by Errol Spence in losing his IBF welterweight title and then being sent to hospital (again, with a broken eye socket) and Khan, though not fighting at all, taking something of a hammering from factions of the press due to the events in his personal life and because of his Australian adventure in the jungle (reality TV strikes again!).

Former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook will be trying to revive his sinking career on March 3 in a fight in the junior middleweight division in Sheffield, England. Kell Brook aims to challenge for a 154 pound belt next year after “warm up fight”

Former IBF welterweight champ Kell Brook is not ready to call it quits just yet. Despite losing back to back against Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence – Brook going to hospital after both stoppage defeats, his eye socket broken by both men; each side – the Sheffield man is stepping up to 154.

Promoter Eddie Hearn wanted Brook to move up earlier than now, in fact after the brave but somewhat gung-ho decision to challenge middleweight king Golovkin, but Brook didn’t want to vacate his 147 pound belt. Now that he’s lost it, Brook will pack on the pounds and go to 154 (or he will not have to undergo the agony of shedding weight to make the 147 limit).

Amir Khan-Kell Brook: The fight that won't go away

Amir Khan-Kell Brook; or should that be the other way around? Just who is the A-side in this all-British clash, one that seemingly will not go away? Both fighters, if they’re not quite drinking at The Last Chance Saloon, are both close to entering the tavern.

Neither former champ has won a fight in a long, long time – Khan last registering a win in May of 2015, Brook last emerging victorious in March of 2016. But despite this recent run of defeat (against nothing but elite fighters it must be pointed out; with Khan losing to Canelo Alvarez and Brook coming unstuck against Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence) neither man is ready to call it quits quite yet.

Amir Khan on Kell Brook's planned return: If he fights me that could be a third loss and bad for his health

It’s been said more than a few times and by more than a few, that British stars Amir Khan and Kell Brook have no remaining big fight in their respective careers other than one against each other.

As fans know, former IBF welterweight champ Brook is coming off two painful stoppage defeats, to Gennady Golovkin and, just under two months ago, Errol Spence Jnr. Khan, the former 140 pound champ, has not fought since being taken out by Canelo Alvarez 14 months ago. But though Brook is planning to return, hopefully, he says, before the end of the year, Khan is reluctant to finally face him in what would still be a genuine all-British blockbuster.
