Former super-middleweight world champion and ‘Sky Boxing’ analyst, Carl Froch, believes Tyson Fury’s best chance of beating Wladimir Klitschko tonight in Dusseldorf is to get close and really try to ‘put it on’ the dominant champion.

Froch – in Germany to cover the fight for the British broadcasting giant – has poured cold water on the notion that Fury should try to get on his bike and box at range, claiming the impeccable distance and timing of Klitschko will mean he inevitably walks onto that one, big, fight-ending shot.

WBA/WBO/IBF heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, has weighed in [245.3 lbs] ahead of tomorrow night’s title defence against British challenger, Tyson Fury [246.4 lbs], insisting that not only is he in fantastic physical shape as always, mentally is where his real strength continues to lie.

The dominant Ukrainian is facing questions from some quarters as to how long he can continue at the very top level, especially now that he is pushing 40 years old and – for some – showed small signs of decline in April’s clash with American, Bryant Jennings.

Former WBA heavyweight champion, David Haye, has predicted that Tyson Fury’s chances of dethroning Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday night are 1/20 at best, and that the gulf in class will be painfully apparent after the first bell sounds in Dusseldorf’s Esprit Arena.

Haye – who famously lost a wide points decision to Klitschko in 2011, and twice pulled out of fighting Fury, citing injury – is set for a ring return in January after 3 1/2 years out of action, and claims to be targeting the top once again under new trainer, Shane McGuigan, meaning an eventual fight with Fury could be on the cards should the Mancunian pull off the win on Saturday.

Wladimir Klitschko has said he ‘doesn’t care’ about the glove controversy that is potentially going to scupper Saturday’s heavyweight world title fight with Tyson Fury, and that in his eyes, Fury’s protestations and threats to pull out of the fight are merely ‘reality’ setting in.

Fury is concerned that his Klitschko-selected ‘Paffen’ fight-night gloves will be damaging to his thumbs, after a first test pair he was sent proved injurious in training, and has stated his concerns that a pair designed to different, more comfortable specifications – that he has also tested – will not be provided in time for the first bell.
