Why Floyd Won’t Fight Maidana?

The pure boxer is unable to keep him off due to his lack of punching power and the pressure fighter is able to do what he does best: SWARM. I feel this is the reason why Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana would be an epic battle of huge proportions.

Maidana is coming off a huge winning streak and he really showed a lot of mental toughness and skill by handing Floyd’s Lil Brother Adrien Broner his first loss. This has huge potential as being a big fight. The older brother steps in after the big school yard bully beats up the younger brother. Can the bully beat up the older brother? Mayweather Sr: Maidana’s too easy to hit for Floyd Jr.

maidana45111With the news of Floyd Mayweather Jr. adding WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana to the potential list of fighters he’ll be choosing from for his next fight on May 3rd, Floyd Mayweather Sr., the trainer and father of Floyd Jr., thinks Maidana is too slow and hittable for his son. Floyd Sr. saw Maidana’s win over Adrien Broner last Saturday night, and he feels the only reason Maidana won the fight was because Broner did everything wrong that you could think of.

Floyd Sr. was great disappointed in what he saw of Broner, and he thinks the only way he’ll be able to turn around his career is if he personally takes over the training for him. Since that’s probably not going to happen, Mayweather Sr. seems Broner as not being a factor. As far as Maidana being a potential opponent for Floyd Jr., Mayweather Sr. doesn’t see him as being good enough go give his son a good fight.

Alex Ariza Explains The Maidana Video

temp7_zps8597586dAfter Adrien Broner suffered his first professional loss to Marcos Maidana this past Saturday night, the feeling of impending drama was fierce.

Maybe it wasn’t the loss itself, but instead the way Maidana took over and made it look like a high quality sparring session. Broner, the young champion that has been making high waves in the boxing community, suffered a similar fate as Andre Berto, who also appeared like a possible boxing sensation before the limit of his boxing ability was exposed.

Now, after all is said and done, Marcos Maidana and his team are under formal investigation for possibly, cheating. In a video posted by TMZ, Alex Ariza is holding a napkin, and at one point, in a low quality replay, looks like is placing a while pill-sized object onto the napkin, and then bringing that napkin to Maidana’s mouth.

Broner/Maidana Fight: Formal Investigation Into Cheating Allegations

by TMZSports.com: Trash talking boxer Adrien Broner got his butt beat and his welterweight title stripped in a stunning loss to Marcos Maidana this Saturday … but TMZ Sports has learned, there’s now a full-blown investigation into allegations of cheating.

Sources close to “the Problem” tell us … the Texas Boxing Commission is now analyzing video of the fight which some say shows Maidana taking what looks like a pill during the WBA welterweight championship fight last Saturday.

The rules are so strict …even water needs to be tested prior to a fight before the boxer can consume it. Pills and any other substance for that matter are off limits.

The dramatic bout, the final match on the 2013 boxing calendar, is a late contender for boxing’s coveted Fight of the Year honor.

The audience performance during the main event ranks as the third-highest audience on record for live boxing on SHOWTIME since the network began tracking individual bouts in 2009.

The average viewership across the entire event, a four-fight, four-hour telecast, brings the series’ 2013 average up 24 percent and a remarkable 64 percent over 2011.

Maidana Shocked the Boxing World with an Upset Victory over Broner

maidana788931Marcos “El Chino” Maidana shook up the boxing world as he upset, Adrien “The Problem” Broner over twelve dominating rounds in which he scored two knockdowns and in the process became the new World Boxing Association Champion with an unanimous decision victory by three scorecards of 115-110, 116-109 and 117-109. This competitive and really interesting welterweight bout, which could be considered the upset of the year, was held at the Alamadome in San Antonio, Texas and was televised on Showtime.

The 30 year old, Maidana from Argentina, improved his record to 35-3, 31KOs and won his fourth consecutive bout. He won a world title in his third attempt, after trying unsuccessfully to do so against, Adriy Kotelnik and Amir Khan. Broner from Cincinnati, Ohio suffered his first professional loss and dropped his record to 27-1, 22KOs.

broner7851Shawn O. (Brooklyn, NYC): What a fight between Broner and Maidana! I was pulling for Maidana, but I didn’t think he’d get it done! Do you think it was a case of Broner being “exposed” or was Maidana just the better man last Saturday night?

Vivek W. (ESB): In my weekly pre-fight Facebook post, I listed a quote that said “To he who much is given, much is expected. And in the sport of Boxing, those who declare themselves great must first be tested”! In the end, Adrien Broner was….in more ways than one! Some viewed this fight as a “Fight of the Year” candidate. I think that overwhelming response answers the question relative to whether or not he was “exposed”. You can’t have that type of battle and be considered a “bust”. I don’t think Broner was “exposed”, in terms of being cleared as a bad fighter. “Exposed” in the sense that he isn’t as polished as his smack talk made it seem? Yeah….I’d co-sign that angle. Clearly we saw that there are a few things which prevent him from being that elite, world class fighter any time soon that we were beginning to think he was.

broner8583 After the bell sounded to signify the end of the match, people were cheering, and giving the middle finger to Adrian “The Problem” Broner who had many problems in his first defense of his WBA welterweight title against Marcos “Chino” Maidana.

While hearing the lopsided scores Broner did not take to his father’s attempt at brushing his hair this time. By unanimous decision and new.

Broner wouldn’t even stay for an interview, he would get taken from the ring right to the dressing room while people hurled trash at him, which was completely projected how not just the crowd – but most boxing fans feel about Broner and the tactics and antics Broner used in the ring.

It was a Big Problem for “The Problem” as “El Chino” cracks down

Calling last night’s 2013 Showtime Boxing closer an “upset of the year” is insulting for the Argentine banger known as Marcos Maidana. In this fantastic match-up, the world was able to see a fighter rewarded for his dedication and focus, and another humbled after an extravaganza of unnecessary and disrespectful antics. It seems that Maidana, a fighter known for his power, resilience, and recuperating ability, was not the “easy work” his opponent made him out to be. Kudos to Robert Garcia for putting in tremendous work with Maidana, of which to me stamina and his ability to feint and throw punches at awkward angles MADE this fight. The odds were unquestionably stacked against the Argentine, with most experts pointing to Broner’s incredible hand-speed and accuracy as being the driver factor for his inevitable success in this fight. There were many, however, that saw some chinks in the armor, when Paulie Malinaggi was able to land on AB’s chin much more than the boxing community expected. Broner’s lackluster performance vs the sometimes wild Ponce De Leon also fed this argument.

John Lennon believed[1] “there’s no problem, only solutions.” How prophetic. After 12 brutal rounds at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, Marcos ‘El Chino’ Maidana finally solved Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner and delivered the Cincinnati wunderkind’s first loss.

Going into the fight, Broner was a heavy, odds-on favourite. Bookmakers rarely get their numbers wrong and rated The Problem a shoo-in to take his record to 28-0, most probably by way of decision. The perceived wisdom of fight commentators was that Maidana was cannon-fodder – a tough, durable opponent carefully chosen to allow Broner to showcase his skills and further his credentials as a pay-per-view star come 2014.
