Roy Jones Jr Granted Russian Citizenship / Serious About Learning the Language and Integrating

Long faded former P4P star Roy Jones Jr has been spending a lot of time glad-handing and hob-nobbing in Russia lately, ostensibly on a ‘building bridges’ mission to promote better sporting ties with the US, the culmination of which has seen him granted citizenship at the hand of President, Vladimir Putin.

The news was revealed, in Russian, on the official Kremlin website this weekend, and has been independently confirmed by Jones himself, who said the following to Russian news agency, R-Sport.

Roy Jones Jr NOT Fighting in the UK on Sept 12th

It would appear that long faded 46 year old future Hall of Fame inductee Roy Jones Jr, will NOT be fighting in the UK as planned, after he failed to board a plane to England ahead of next Saturday’s scheduled fight against local 42 year old, Tony Moran, that was to take place in Liverpool.

Jones is chasing an elusive cruiserweight title, the only division from middleweight thru heavyweight that he hasn’t won a world honour, and according to Stephen Vaughan, who was promoting the Malta Boxing Commission sanctioned Liverpool event, Jones has been promised the shot he wants.

Roy Jones Jr: Training Fedor Chudinov Ahead of Buglioni Clash in London

As he continues to fight on at 46, it would seem that future Hall of Fame Inductee Roy Jones Jr has again dipped his finger into training, this time helping to prepare Russian WBA (reg) champion Fedor Chudinov for his September 26th maiden defence against Frank Buglioni in London.

After a brief flirtation training welterweight contender Jessie Vargas recently, Jones, who boxes in England himself on September 12th, has turned his attention to the Eastern European fighter, perhaps owing in part to his close relationship with Chudinov’s promoter Vlad Hrunov.

Veteran former four weight world titlist Roy Jones Jr, who continues to fight on at 46 in the quest of an elusive title at cruiserweight, has had his fight this Saturday on the tiny Dutch Island of Philipsberg Sint Maarten in the Caribbean postponed through severe weather concerns.

It would seem to many that Mother Nature is trying to tell the long faded former champ something, although the fight with fellow old timer and former 175 lb world title challenger Danny Santiago has unfortunately not been cancelled, and will be re-arranged for a later date.

Roy Jones Jr: Not Giving Up on Cruiserweight Title Dreams / Wants Glowacki Fight

It appears that long faded 46 year old legend Roy Jones Jr (62-8, 45ko) has still not given up on his dream of capturing an elusive cruiserweight world title, and has bizarrely now turned his attentions to new WBO champion Krzysztof Glowacki in a bid to achieve this seemingly impossible feat.

Jones had been publicly chasing a bout with long-time former champ Marco Huck, who Glowacki stunned 11 days ago to be crowned champion, and seems to be under the impression that capturing honours in the 200lb division is a realistic proposition should the Polish fighter agree to the bout.

Mayweather will have an asterisk even if he beats Pacquiao now, says Jones Jr

Mayweather will have an asterisk even if he beats Pacquiao now, says Jones Jr

According to Roy Jones Jr, Floyd Mayweather Jr will have an asterisk next to his record when he leaves the game because of him having never fought Manny Pacquiao during his career. But even if Mayweather does choose to fight Pacquiao, he’ll still wind up with an asterisk on his record because Pacquiao being on the decline at this point in his career. In other words, Mayweather is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t as far as Pacquiao goes.

Jones Jr thinks Mayweather’s fighting style is boring, and he’s not impressed with what he saw of him in his two back to back fights against Marcos Maidana. Jones thinks the most exciting thing about those two fights is Mayweather getting bit by Maidana on the glove.

Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney are fighting on the same night and same card in Riga, Latvia

The term ‘crowd effect’ is a very powerful thing, and it has been for centuries. Anyone who spent their lives under constant spotlight, being the target of praise, popularity, fame and of course colossal earnings, will never want to live without it. Just as there are physical withdrawals from drugs, there is an equal amount of psychological withdrawal from lack of constant attention.

There comes a time for every fighter, when there more boxing fans suggesting retirement, than clamoring for the next fight. Of course it is much easier to suggest, then to do. For Roy Jones Jr., this has been the case for a considerable amount of time now. Jones has not faced a highly rated opponent since 2011, when he was knocked out by Denis Lebedev in Russia. Since then Jones was able to accumulate three victories against less known competition, and is planning on keeping his boxing career afloat.
