WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn hasn’t made it clear yet whether he’ll take the fight with his mandatory challenger Terence Crawford in early 2018. While Horn’s co-promoter Bob Arum wants him to take the fight with Crawford, he could potentially swerve the fight by vacating the WBO title and taking a bigger money fight against fellow Australian Anthony Mundine.

Boxing in 2017 – Oh What a Year! The Future Looks Bright, Despite the End of an Era
By Justin Jones: First, let me start off by giving the fighters, promoters, advisers, trainers, TV networks & executives, media members, and of course, the fans, a big round of applause (claps in circular motion)!
After a rather dull 2016, boxing fans were treated to a number of competitive and compelling matchups, seemingly every weekend this year. We witnessed history – Terrance Crawford (32-0, 23 KOs) fully unifying the 140-pound division and two 2-time Olympic gold medalists get it on (Vasyl Lomachenko [10-1, 10 KOs] vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux [17-1, 11 KOs]). We were also treated to a number of pound-for-pound fighters willing to test their mettle against one another – Andrew Ward (32-0, 16 KOs) vs Sergey Kovalev (31-2-1, 27 KOs), Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) vs Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-2), and Lomachenko vs. Rigondeaux.
Jeff Horn wants BIG money for Terence Crawford fight
WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn (18-0-1, 12 KOs) is looking to cash in big for his mandatory defense against Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford (32-0, 23 KOs) in 2018. Horn, 29, won’t be agreeing to take the fight against Crawford for $1 million.
Vasyl Lomachenko not pound-for-pound best says Terence Crawford’s trainer
Is Vasyl Lomachenko the current best in the sport, pound-for-pound? This seems to be the general consensus, and not only that, but many fans, and experts, are wondering if the two-weight king will ever be beaten (yes, Lomachenko did lose, in his second pro outing, against an over-the-weight Orlando Salido, who emerged with a razor-close, debatable decision seemingly a millions years ago now).
Crawford sends message to Jeff Horn: I’m totally different from Corcoran
Undefeated two-division world champion TERENCE “Bud” CRAWFORD (32-0, 32 KOs), from Omaha,is ready to move out of the junior welterweight division and up to the welterweight class. Crawford, the 2014 Fighter of the Year, became boxing’s first undisputed world champion in 15 years when he knocked out fellow unified world champion Julius Indongo over the summer.
Jeff Horn retains WBO welterweight title with 11th round stoppage of a game Gary Corcoran
Earlier today in Brisbane, Australia, Jeff Horn made a successful first defence of the WBO welterweight title he won by sensationally upsetting all-time great Manny Pacquiao back in July. Horn, who was well ahead on all three cards at the time, got the TKO win over Cororan of Great Britain in the 11th round. Time was 1:35 and Corcoran, who was pouring blood from a damaged left eye, was saved by his corner who signaled to the referee how he had had enough.
Jeff Horn says he can beat Terence Crawford just like he did Pacquiao
If he could pull it off, it would almost certainly go down as a bigger upset than the one he scored in July of this year in dethroning defending WBO welterweight champ Manny Pacquiao – and Jeff Horn says he “knows” he can do it: beat pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford.
As per Australia’s Grantlee Kieza’s weekly boxing blog via The Courier Mail, Horn says he is “very keen to fight Terence Crawford.” The unbeaten Horn faces Britain’s Gary Corcoran on December 13 in Brisbane, but “The Hornet” is looking at a massive fight with unbeaten two-weight king Crawford; who has recently moved up to 147.
Terence Crawford named mandatory challenger for Jeff Horn’s WBO welterweight title
It’s a fight Bob Arum has expressed a good deal of interest in making and now, due to the WBO installing Terence Crawford as the mandatory challenger for WBO welter ruler Jeff Horn, the fight is a big step closer towards taking place.
As per a twitter message from the WBO: “Crawford is mandatory contender for Jeff Horn. Fight will have to be arranged within 90 days after Horn next optional defence.”
Crawford will fight Jeff Horn in Feb/March says Arum
Terence Crawford will be getting a title shot against WBO heavyweight champion Jeff Horn in February or March of next year, says their promoter Bob Arum. The original plan was for Horn (17-0-1, 11 KOs) to defend his WBO 147 title against 38-year-old Manny Pacquiao in a rematch in November.
Ward’s surprise retirement leaves the pound-for-pound NO.1 spot open – but who deserves to take it?
Whether you were a fan of his or not and whether you will miss him or not, it is undeniable how Andre Ward left a big hole in the sport when he announced his pretty much out of the blue retirement earlier this week.
