Pacquiao talks Bradley fight

BOB ARUM: This is a very interesting promotion as far as I’m concerned. A lot of people are concentrating on the new and improved Tim Bradley. Manny Pacquiao with his right arm now totally repaired – he has had that torn rotator cuff since before the De La Hoya fight. A lot of athletes are able to perform well with a torn rotator cuff – a lot of pitchers in the major leagues are able to perform well with it. Obviously now that it’s repaired, it is at full strength.

Tim Bradley Q&A - "Legacy on the Line: From Bradley to Pacquiao" Full Show Included

You didn’t get any credit after beating Pacquiao in the first fight, do you think you need a KO to get a definitive result. Is that what you need? How do you accomplish this?

I’ve gone down the road of thinking I need a KO and it didn’t work to benefit me. At this time I just know that I have to do my job; I will step in that ring and follow instructions from my corner that should get me my victory and credit that I deserve.

Officials named for Pacquiao-Bradley III - Robert Byrd will be the third man in the ring

The referee and the three scoring officials have been named ahead of the upcoming April 9th rubber-match between Manny Pacquiao and Tim Bradley. Robert Byrd will referee the clash in Las Vegas, while the three judges will be Dave Moretti, Burt Clements and Steve Weisfeld. Byrd is as experienced as can be and he has refereed both Pacquiao and Bradley before, being the third man for the first fight between the two, which as we know ended up as one of the most controversial fights, or decisions, in years. Bradley won in 2012, yet virtually nobody agreed with the verdict.

Roach: Pacquiao has more quality fights left in him

Roach: Pacquiao has more quality fights left in him

Do you really think this is Pacquiao’s last fight? As a trainer, would you say Pacquiao has more quality fights in him? Is Pacquiao the best fighter you have ever trained? If not, who are the others?

“I personally don’t know if this will be Manny’s last fight but he is training like it’s going to be his last fight. Manny has achieved so much in his boxing career and if this is going to be his swan song I know he wants to go out blazing with a spectacular performance. He’s pouring everything into this training. If the opportunity for a knockout presents itself during the fight, he’s going to go for it. He knows how to close the show and he wants this show closed with fireworks. He wants to finish the book on his boxing career with a spectacular ending.

Pacquiao speaks about his recent lack of KO wins: I’m a 140-pounder, I can make 135

Pacquiao speaks about his recent lack of KO wins: I’m a 140-pounder, I can make 135

Superstar Manny Pacquiao, a once vicious, unstoppable whirlwind of a fighter, has heard the criticism thrown his way for not scoring a knockout victory in quite some time (Pac-Man’s last stoppage win coming over Miguel Cotto back in 2009) – and the former multi-weight king has an explanation: he is not a welterweight.

Despite having fought in the 147-pound division for some time – included amongst his welterweight bouts the highest grossing fight in history with Floyd Mayweather Junior – 37-year-old Pacquiao, 57-6-2(38) told ESPN Deportes he is really a natural 140-pounder who could still make lightweight if he really wanted to. This, Pac-Man says, accounts for his long string of KO-less fights.

Roach says Pacquiao’s right hand is now “stronger than his left!”

Superstar Manny Pacquiao began working at the Wild Card gym of his equally famous trainer, Freddie Roach on Monday, and Roach liked what he saw from Pac-Man in sparring. Getting ready to face Tim Bradley for a third and final time – Pacquiao repeatedly stating how the April 9th fight will be his final ring appearance before saying adios – the future Hall of Famer is also overcoming the shoulder injury he carried with him into the “Fight of the Century” against Floyd Mayweather Junior last May.

But, as Dan Rafael reports on ESPN.com, there are no concerns about the shoulder. Not for Roach anyway. Roach, who has said a few times he believes his southpaw dynamo will score a KO over Bradley this time, has been amazed at the strength of Manny’s right hand. Pacquiao tore his rotator cuff, a quite common injury for boxers, and had to undergo surgery to repair it. Roach is praising his fighter’s doctor, who, he says, has worked a near miracle!

Tim has shown an incredible rebirth, beginning with his November fight in his union with Teddy Atlas. He did what no one had ever done, stopping Brandon Rios. He is motivated and a classy person inside the ring and a classy, classy person outside the ring. We are really excited to hear what he has to say and how he is preparing for this fight. He just found out today that Everlast has signed Tim (http://goo.gl/utpZTx). As he is winding down his training camp days I think it’s a good time to talk to him and Teddy.

Do you think Bradley won the first meeting? When I first watched the fight in a room full of people and not giving full concentration I thought Tim lost. But having watched it again, with full concentration, I thought Tim won at least six rounds.

Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley III Apr. 9th date in jeopardy, as Philippine elections committee is asked to stop the fight

Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley III Apr. 9th date in jeopardy, as Philippine elections committee is asked to stop the fight

There is a chance the rubber-match between welterweights Manny Pacquiao and Tim Bradley will not go ahead as scheduled on April 9th in Las Vegas. The reason is, today (local time) the Philippine elections committee was asked by Pac-Man’s senate candidate rival Walden Bello to stop the fight as it would give Pacquiao unfair publicity and exposure ahead of the May 9 elections.

Bello insists a law, put in place to give candidates equal publicity when entering an election, will be broken if Pacquiao’s fight, and all its TV, radio and print exposure, goes ahead. Bello, ESPN.com reports, wants the fight postponed until after May 9th.
