Could Tyson Fury become another Buster Douglas? David Haye fears the worst

It’s been said before now, by a number of fans, that heavyweight ruler Tyson Fury – who partied and partied after winning the crown and piled on a ton of weight as a result – could go down in history as “another Buster Douglas.” Douglas of course, smashed “invincible” heavyweight king Mike Tyson to defeat in a truly stunning performance, then ate himself up to around 300-pounds and almost lost his life after falling into a diabetic coma.

Hopefully Fury will not follow such a path, but there are fresh concerns in light of his terrible physical appearance at “that” press conference in Manchester last month. Fury has since shifted a substantial amount of the excess weight he packed on and hopefully he will be fully focused going into his July 9 rematch with Wladimir Klitschko.

Retired heavyweight great Lennox Lewis, who had his very last fight against a Klitschko, in Vitali, is an interested observer going into the rematch between Tyson Fury and Vitali’s younger brother, Wladimir. Fury upset Klitschko as we know, but a lot of things have happened since last November. Firstly, and most notably, Fury piled on a ton of weight (weight he is currently shifting during training camp for the July 9th rematch), and secondly, Klitschko has vowed to be “mentally there” this time and KO Fury.

Fight fans don’t believe him, but heavyweight champ Tyson Fury has again stated how he will retire after his upcoming July 9th rematch with former champion Wladimir Klitschko. At the official press conference in Manchester last week, Fury vowed to KO Klitschko “in a round,” but then, after the German press conference the following day, a far more subdued Fury said he does not care if he wins or loses the fight dubbed “Repeat or Revenge.”

Fans the world over were shocked yesterday at the sight of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s physical appearance. As surely all fans know, the don’t give a damn Fury ripped off his t-shirt at yesterday’s “Repeat or Revenge” press conference in Manchester, to show off his non-athletic body (his own choice of words included “fat man and fat pig”) to the ex-champion he must face again on July 9th in Wladimir Klitschko.

Look out, America – Tyson Fury is headed your way!

It’s always best advised to take most of what heavyweight champion Tyson Fury says with a pinch of salt. The unbeaten giant says so many things – some controversial some just plain daft – and not all of his outbursts truly reflect what he is thinking. So what to make of Fury’s latest statement (yes, Fury had even more to say after yesterday’s astonishing press conference in Manchester!) – that he will fight Wladimir Klitschko on July 9th and then, that’s it, he’s emigrating to Los Angeles?

Watch the video filmed by Kugan Cassius over at IfilmTV (scroll below to find) if you cannot be bothered to read about the highlights today’s Tyson Fury-Wladimir Klitschko press conference gave us in Manchester, but either way, fans have to agree: Fury, out of shape (by his own admission) and not at all in love with boxing (far from it, Fury said today that he “hates” boxing) simply does not care what anyone thinks about him.
