Errol Spence Jr., the promoter for Frank Martin, is predicting a victory for him against WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis this Saturday night in their headliner on June 15th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Spence feels that Martin (18-0, 12 KOs) is going to show the world that he’s the best fighter in the lightweight division in this fight by doing the job on the unbeaten Tank Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) in their match on the loaded card on PBC on Prime Video PPV.
Tank Davis attended the final press conference today for his fight against Martin. He skipped the grand arrivals yesterday, which resulted in him being criticized on social media by boxing fans for his unprofessionalism.
During Martin’s speech today, Davis interrupted him and appeared to be trying to throw him off. After Martin sat back down, Tank said he was shivering at the podium. Frank did sound like he was nervous, but that was more of a public speaking deal.
“Come Saturday night, Frank is going to put on a great show and a great performance. He’s ready for this moment, and he’s been ready for this moment for a long time,” said promoter Errol Spence Jr. during today’s final press conference, hyping up his fighter Frank Martin ahead of his fight against WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis this Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Tank gave him this opportunity. On Saturday night, he’s going to put on a great show and a great performance. He’s going to show everybody why he’s the best 135-pounder in the world and the new WBA champion of the world, Frank Martin. We’re going to give you a new Father’s Day gift, Daddy Martin, come Saturday night,” said Spence.
The Importance of Experience
“In 2017, Tank became world champion. Do you know what Frank Martin was doing? He wasn’t even professional yet,” said Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe. “One thing about this boxing s***. You can’t skip steps. There’s one thing we call experience, and you gain that over a period of time by fighting the top fighters and doing your thing.
“Again, I can’t say enough about what I personally think: Frank is a good fighter, but there’s a difference between being good and being special. This man to my right is special. Everything Frank Martin does well, Tank does better. Come Saturday night, don’t blink because this s*** could be over early,” said Ellerbe.
