Warren: Price won’t be facing winner of Chisora-Fury

Liverpool’s David Price will not be in the running to fight the winner out of premier heavyweights Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury said promoter Frank Warren.

Price’s promoter Kalle Sauerland had said that it was ‘inevitable’ that Price would face the winner of Chisora and Fury, but Warren has said that won’t happen.

Bitter rivals Chisora and Fury clash in the biggest domestic heavyweight showdown in recent years at the Phones 4 U Arena in Manchester on Saturday 26th July, with the winner securing the WBO number one spot to challenge reigning world champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Dawson faces Blades tonight

Chad Dawson (31-3, 17 KO’s) is hoping a win tonight against George Blades (23-5, 16 KO’s) will help reignite his stalled career. Dawson and Blades will be squaring off for a 10 round fight at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Martin Murray: I know I can definitely beat Miguel Cotto

Martin Murray (27-1-1, 12 KO’s) is making no secret to the fact that he wants another world title shot after losing to former WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez in a fight that Murray feels he should have won.

Murray sees the WBC 160-pound title as belt that should rightfully belong to him, and that’s why he wants to fight the new owner of it Miguel Cotto. Murray believes that the smaller 5’7” Cotto would be vulnerable to his fists, and he wants to prove to the fans that he’s better than him so that he can take the WBC strap and bring it back to the UK.

“I know I could definitely beat Cotto. He didn’t dethrone the same Sergio Martinez that me or Julio Cesar Chavez [Jr] fought,” Murray said to Boxnation.com. “I’d also like Cotto because he’s got the WBC belt that I believe should already be mine. And never forget boxing is also business. That’s where the most money is.”

Khan: I could be Mayweather’s next opponent after September

Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KO’s) hasn’t given up on his desire to try and get a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Khan sees himself having a good chance at getting a fight with Mayweather next year in May. Khan took himself out of the running for Mayweather’s September 13th fight due to Ramadan.

Khan plans on fighting in November or December against a still to be determined opponent. It’s going to need to be someone good for him to proclaim that he has earned the fight to fight Mayweather. With 2 losses in his last 5 fights, and no wins over anyone relevant, Khan doesn’t have a good case that he should get a fight against Mayweather. He still needs a live body and not someone pulled out of the graveyard to fight just so that he can get an old scalp with a name attached to it.

Soto Karass: I have to put a beating on Devon Alexander

(Picture credit: Hogan Photos) 31-year-old Jesus Soto Karass (28-9-3, 18 KO’s) plans on taking the fight to former IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (25-2, 14 KO’s) in their scheduled 10 round fight this Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Soto Karass has a good blueprint to follow in how to beat the 27-year-old Alexander by following what Shawn Porter did by coming at Alexander and mugging him on the inside for 12 rounds. #6 IBF Alexander is a good fighter on the outside, but Porter exposed him as having just rudimentary skills on the inside in giving him a pounding in the process of winning a 12 round last December.

Vasyl Lomachenko and Garry Russell Jr. battle it out for the vacant WBO featherweight title

He dropped a highly controversial decision last time out to the overweight veteran Orlando Salido who lost the title on the scales but was somehow fouled his way to an SD.

Garry Russel Jr. and Lomachenko are both slick southpaws who boxed all their lives. Both are trained by their fathers and both train in their fathers’ gyms. They bring a lot of boxing experience and expertise and the bout should be a feast for casual fans and pundits alike. Southpaws are awkward for everyone including for each other because the fight another southpaw as rarely as anyone and they are fine-tuned to fight orthodox opponents.

Pulev: I will get Wladimir’s titles and replace him as World champion

Bulgarian heavyweight Kubrat Pulev (20-0, 11 KO’s) believes that he’s got the talent to beat IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (62-3, 52 KO’s) and take away all of his 4 world titles in their fight on September 6th at the O2 World Arena, Altona, in Hamburg, Germany.

While the 33-year-old Pulev hasn’t fought anyone good enough to give you any kind of indication that he’ll be able to beat Wladimir, he still comes across like someone who is dead certain that he’s going to be victorious over the 38-year-old Ukrainian.

Guerrero believes that a big win over the KO artist Kamegai (24-1-1, 21 KO’s) could put him back on the path for a second fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Guerrero feels that the 37-year-old Mayweather has run out of opponents in the welterweight division, and he needs someone like him to give him a name for him to fight.

Besides that, Guerrero says he’s improved since his loss to Mayweather last year in May. He says that his conditioning is better now, and that he’s fighting smarter.
