Former NBA champion MARTIN “EL BROCHAS” HONORIO, 17-2 (11 KOs) will risk his two-year, six-bout winning streak (five by KO!) when he rumbles against former world title challenger and Brasilian buzzsaw GIOVANNI ANDRADE, 39-7 (31 KOs)in the 10-round featherweight main event
Boxing fans from around the world can catch all the action via a live internet stream, and access the replay, at www.cmxsports.com for a monthly subscription fee of just $4.95. The series airs every Friday night, beginning at 11 P.M. ET / 8 P.M. PT. Subscribers will also be able to access archived fight footage and get behind-the-scenes interviews, previews and articles. The broadcasts will be available in English and Spanish. Former WBC welterweight champion and 2004 International Boxing Hall of Fam inductee, Carlos Palomino, will provide the color commentary to newly elected World Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, Colonel Bob Sheridan’s blow-by-blow, on the English feed of the broadcast. Sheridan is a veteran of more than 750 world title fight broadcasts. The Spanish language feed of the broadcast features former NFL All-Pro kicker and veteran sports announcer Benny Ricardo and former five-time world champion Manuel Medina, doing the blow-by-blow and color, respectively. Former Major League Baseball player Rich Perez, who hosts the weekly CMXsports Radio show, heard weekly Tuesday nights in Las Vegas at 8 P.M. PT in Las Vegas or via the internet at www.alltalkradio.net or www.klav1230am.com, provides the in-ring post-fight interviews. Boxing historian Bert Randolph Sugar, former editor of The Ring and Boxing Illustrated, and the author of more than 50 books, has signed on as CMXsports Senior Boxing Analyst At-Large, providing weekly columns to the CMXsports website and commentary to the broadcasts. A new Sugar column, “Sugar ‘N Spice,” runs on CMXsports.com every Friday.
The Honorio – Andrade battle will be the fight of the night between two warriors with a combined record of 56-9 (42 KOs) — a winning percentage exceeding 86%! Honorio made his “CMX Boxeo De Campeones” debut last month, stopping Martin Bermudez via a sixth-round KO at The Orleans. Victim’s of Honorio’s winning streak have included Cristobal Cruz (KO 1), John Nolasco (unanimous decision), and Sergio Sanchez (TKO 10) for the vacant NBA featherweight title. He is currently the top-rated contender in the WBA Fedelatin and WBA Fedecentro, No. 6 in the NABF and No. 10 in the NABO. Andrade is enjoying his own five-bout winning streak, dating back to his contrioversial 10th-round DQ loss to Celestino Caballero for the vacant NABA super featherweight title. A two-time Brasilian champion at super flyweight and super bantamweight, he has unsuccessfully challenged Johnny Tapia and Luigi Castiglione for their world super flyweight titles.
The undercard will feature a eight-round super lightweight bout between Alex “Little Champ” Velardez, 12-1 (6 KOs), from San Bernardino, CA, against Jesus “Little Warrior” Santiago, 9-7-1 (1 KO), from Mexico City, Mexico.
CMXsports and Guilty Boxing will produce 48 two-hour shows a year over a three-year period with two cards each month emanating from Las Vegas –The Orleans Hotel & Casino and the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino. The remaining two shows per month will be broadcast from different locations, including, southern California and Mexico. Recent shows have emanated from Las Pulgas Club in Tijuana, Mexico.
