08.09.04 – Mohegan Sun, in association with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, presents an exciting night of boxing in the Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday, September 30th. The undefeated Tarvis Simms from Norwalk, Connecticut will headline the main event, while heavyweight Robert Wiggins from Providence, Rhode Island will battle Kevin Johnson (4-0-1, 3 KOs) from Easton, Pennsylvania in the co-feature. In addition, Luis Rosa (7-7, 1 KO) from New Haven, Connecticut will meet Rudolph Dixon (1-1, 1 KO) from Harlem, New York and Harvey Medina (1-0, 1 KO) from Boston will face Keenan Collins (2-0, 2 KO) from Pennsylvania. The event will be taped and re-broadcast on the Metro Channel and NESN (New England Sports Network.) The first bout starts at 7:00 pm.

Simms has competed in over 200 bouts and boasts an extraordinary amateur record. He has won multiple local amateur tournaments including the Junior Olympics, Silver Mittens, Holyoke Golden Gloves, Connecticut Golden Gloves, ABF Regionals and Lowell, Massachusetts Regionals. He also won the National Golden Gloves and US Olympic Festival Championships. He scored his last victory on May 28, 2004 against Jameel Wilson from Philadelphia in the Mohegan Sun Arena.
