15.09.04 – European middleweight champion Howard Eastman has vowed to make mandatory contender Jorge Sendra pay for his recent comments when they meet on Friday 24th September at the Nottingham Arena. The Spaniard – also known as ‘The Savage’ –claimed that Eastman ‘deserves a beating’ and was ‘too ugly’ to win. He picked on the wrong guy…
“I want him to back up his words,” said ‘Battersea Bomber’ Eastman, whilst filming video footage now exclusively available on www.HennessySports.com.
“Then I am going to make him eat his words.
“I am going to take him out. This fight is not going 12 rounds.”
Eastman has every right to be confident. In a career that spans over ten years the Robert McCracken trained fighter has stopped 35 of his 39 opponents, won British, Commonwealth and European honours and secured the WBC#1 position.
In his last outing he comprehensively out pointed Russia’s Sergey Tatevosyan with Sendra sat ringside nursing an injury.
Even though that came back in January, there are no concerns about ring rust; just focus
“I love boxing” Eastman added. “I’m a champion – I’m always training and training is going well. I’m just looking forward to the fight.”
This is true to Howard’s old school nature. He will fight anyone, anywhere, regardless of circumstance.
That includes travelling to America to take on the winner of this weekend’s showdown between undisputed middleweight champion and long-term target Bernard Hopkins and Oscar de la Hoya.
“I see that as a one sided fight,” Howard appraised.
“Hopkins will knock out De La Hoya, I can’t see the fight going twelve rounds.
“Given that statement, you never know with boxing and Danny Williams proved that against Mike Tyson.
“I’m just hoping that I get the opportunity to fight the winner and I’m confident enough to box them in the States.
“I am going to knock out Sendra first though.”
