CMX Boxeo de Campeones Features Soto v. Solis This Friday

16.09.04 – Now into its third full month of production, “CMX Boxeo de Campeones”– presented by CMXsports and promoted by Guilty Boxing — returns This Friday! September 17, LIVE from the The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. HUMBERTO “ZORITA” SOTO goes mano-a-mano against undefeated Mexican buzzsaw, JORGE “COLORADITO” SOLIS in the 10-round featherweight main event battle of Top-10 contenders.

Boxing fans from around the world can catch all the action via a live internet stream, and access the replay, at www.cmxsports.com for a monthly subscription fee of just $4.95. The series airs every Friday night, beginning at 11 P.M. ET / 8 P.M. PT. Subscribers will also be able to access archived fight footage and get behind-the-scenes interviews, previews and articles. The broadcasts will be available in English and Spanish. Former WBC welterweight champion and 2004 International Boxing Hall of Fam inductee, Carlos Palomino, will provide the color commentary to newly elected World Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, Colonel Bob Sheridan’s blow-by-blow, on the English feed of the broadcast, as well as in-ring post fight interviews on the English and Spanish broadcasts. Sheridan is a veteran of more than 750 world title fight broadcasts. The Spanish language feed of the broadcast features former NFL All-Pro kicker and veteran sports announcer Benny Ricardo and former five-time world champion Manuel Medina, doing the blow-by-blow and color, respectively. Boxing historian Bert Randolph Sugar, former editor of The Ring and Boxing Illustrated, and the author of more than 50 books, has signed on as CMXsports Senior Boxing Analyst At-Large, providing weekly columns to the CMXsports website and commentary to the broadcasts. A new Sugar column, “Sugar ‘N Spice,” runs on CMXsports.com every Friday.

Soto, currently world-rated No. 3 by the WBC and No. 5 by the WBO, is riding a two-year, 12-bout winning streak — eight by knockout — including a WBC FECARBOX title victory over Emidgio Gastelum at The Orleans in 2002. Soto’s knockout victory of Wilson Alcorro on May 28, was the main event on the world premiere of “CMX Boxeo de Campeones.” Soto has fought four times this year, winning them all by knockout.

Solis won his first title, the Mexican super bantamweight championship, in 2001, via a 12-round decision over Ruben Estanislao. After three successful title defenses, he vacated the title to move up in weight, collecting the Mexican featherweight and WBA Fedecentro featherweight titles. He successfully defended both this year by knockout. Solis, 24, is currently world-rated No. 10 by the WBC.

The undercard will feature Larry Mosley, 12-1, from Los Angeles, CA, in an eight-round welterweight bout; undefeated Dewey Cooper, 10-0-2 (7 KOs), from Las Vegas, NV in a six-round cruiserweight bout against Michael Moncrief, 1-3-1 (1 KO), also from Las Vegas; and a six-round middleweight rumble between Jamar Nolan, 11-0 (8 KOs), from Detroit, MI, against Ishwar Amador, 10-5 (6 KOs), from Riverside, CA.

CMXsports and Guilty Boxing will produce 48 two-hour shows a year over a three-year period with two cards each month emanating from Las Vegas –The Orleans Hotel & Casino and the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino. The remaining two shows per month will be broadcast from different locations, including, southern California and Mexico. Recent shows have emanated from Las Pulgas Club in Tijuana, Mexico.

“CMX Boxeo de Campeones” will showcase the very best in action-packed Latin fights, a staple of Guilty Boxing shows over the past decade, as well as an extensive amount of high-quality features on boxing.
