11.04.05 – Spartacus retained his British Masters light heavyweight title on Sunday afternoon’s highly successful promotion at the Brentwood Leisure Centre in Essex – staged by TBS Sports in association with the Knight Group – when challenger Sammy Price quit on his stool after six gruelling rounds..
This was an intriguing tussle. Price began well, using good sideways movement and a sharp jab to frustrate his hard-hitting opponent.
But it was only a matter time once Spartacus began to get home with the heavy artillery from the third.
The 27-year-old from Ipswich continually caught his man with hooks to the head and the body, threatening to force the end at any time.
In the end Prices corner, who had given their man every chance, had seen enough and brought matters to an end.
“I said before the fight that I was back to my best and I proved it,” Spartacus said afterwards. “Now its onwards and upwards. I have said it before: I will have it with anyone.”

Ever popular Morden man Daws recovers from a first round knockdown to outgun an unbelievably durable opponent. Duracell should sponsor Saheed; despite taking continual punishment he continued to pour forward, throwing all manner of heavy shots from every angle. To many of them failed to land, however, and it was Daw’s classier work that earned him the nod 58-55. This was the fight of the year so far.

Darren Barker w tko 3 Andrei Sherel
Commonwealth games gold medallist Barker makes it four outstanding professional wins on the bounce. His composure, shot picking and power continue to impress. Sherel was simply unable to live with his opponent and his team rightly threw in the towel when the going got too tough.

Dave Stewart w tko 3 Daniel Thorpe
The likeable Stewart rolls on. Daniel Thorpe was floored twice in the opener through shots to the chest, managed to stay afloat in the second, but was sent down again in the third. He made a token attempt to beat the count but nobody, including the referee, thought he was in any condition to continue.

Lloyd Otte w pts Peter Allen
West Ham featherweight makes it two out two to the delight of his many supporters. Otte showed great potential, boxing with great maturity and dug in well at times.
4×3 Middleweight
Daniel Cadman w pts Howard Clarke
Clarke comes to win; firing out of the blocks with a flurry of blows, but is handled well by the ever-improving Cadman. The Waltham Abbey boy, sporting a new hair-do with red streaks, used his jab to good effect and outgunned his man in the trenches when required.
4×3 Light Welterweight
John O’Donnell w pts Duncan Cottier
A nice little tussle that both protagonists fancied they could win. O’Donnell, however, justified his status as pre-fight favourite. The former Junior Olympic Gold Medallist not only boxed beautifully at distance, but also in close. This is going to be one serious fighter when he develops his man strength.
