Castillo-Klitschko: What can we expect?

19.04.05 – By Matt Phillips: Germany can expect to see the unexpected on Saturday. Wladmir Klitschko the ex WBO Heavyweight champion is going to fight Eliseo Castillo in there very own Westfalenhallen Complex in Dortmund. The self managed Ukrainian will probably enter the ring as only a short favourite with the bookies but yet the general atmosphere around the fight is that he’ll knock Castillo out and easy fashion.. I on the other hand am not so sure. When was the last time that the America’s send a lamb to the slaughter? Castillo will take some beating and in fact I think he’ll win. He has a great record of 18 – 0 – 1 and 14 KO’s and as long as he doesn’t let Klitschko jab him out of the ring he has every chance of winning.

Castillo is being painted as a prospect going into this fight, but at the age of 29 I don’t see this as a prospect getting his chance to show the world what he can do but more of a make or break fight not just for his career but maybe even his life.

Both fighter will be suffering a bit of ring rust as Castillo hasn’t fought since July and Klitschko since October. This will be a test of styles and I hope the 6’2 Cuban / American has been watching the Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster tapes. I would think that he has fought a million times in his head like the quick, keep close styles of both those fighters but on fight night can he hold his nerve? For Wladmir this is old territory, he’s used to the big time and nerves wont spoil his game plan, and at 6’6.5 it’s the same old game plan that we witness with every fight. Jab, Jab, Jab. This is the reason that Wladmir doesn’t make big money, he’s boring and predictable and that’s the reason that he has had so many big shots in the ring because everyone things they can duck in around him, but do you know what, that’s also the same reason that he wins so many. He great at it, just like his brother.

However there is a man from Miami who is going in with the same game plan as the rest and he hasn’t made the plane journey for no reason. The rest of his life is in the balance and that hunger will make for a terrific fight.

I expect the fight to be either very short or go the distance. Castillo will try and have the fight won by round 4 after that, its Klitscho with a record of 44 wins.
