Orlin Norris Continues Comeback On May 28

05.05.05 – Former World Boxing Association cruiserweight champion Orlin Norris of Lubbock, Texas, continues his comeback when he meets highly regarded Albert Sosnowski of Poland May 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The eight-round heavyweight bout is on the undercard of the pay-per-view event promoted by Top Rank, Inc. in association with Sycuan Ringside Promotions.

The card includes International Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Rafael Marquez defending against Ricardo Vargas plus fights featuring former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and undefeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Norris, who’s promoted by Sycuan Ringside Promotions and managed by Willie Tucker Jr., has a record of 5-0 since coming back during 2003 following a nearly two-year layoff.

The 39-year-old Norris has an overall record of 57-8 with 31 knockouts during his 19-year career.

Norris was the WBA cruiserweight champion during 1993-1995 before returning to the heavyweight division. As a heavyweight Norris has beaten former World Boxing Council champion Oliver McCall, former WBA champs Greg Page and Tony Tubbs and former IBF king Tony Tucker. He’s also faced former undisputed world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, Andrew Golota and Vitali Klitschko.

Sosnowski, who enjoys a 13-year age and seven-inch reach advantage over Norris, has a record of 36-1 with 23 knockouts and has won 17 straight dating back to 2001.
