12.06.05 – By Per Ake Persson: Cruiser Krzysztof Wlodarczyk stopped Brit John Keaton in four rounds in the headliner of Hammer Knockout´s promotion. Keaton made a fast start and had the Pole under some pressure with heavy hooks to the body and a right hand over the top. Referee Slodek Kromka was quick to intervene as Keaton´s right didn´t land cleanly using the same interpretation of punching with the inside of the glove as they do in the amateurs..

Keaton even had a point deducted for this. Fair enough, even John admitted he wasn´t punching cleanly but he had his fist closed and wasn´t slapping. This gave Wlodarczyk, a slow starter, some time and in the third he found his rythm. Keaton was hurt and floored by sharp left hooks to the body and after two knockdowns he retired in his corner and didn´t come out for the fourth.

“He simply took the wind out of me, said Keaton, he´s a very hard puncher. “

What now then? “We fly to Miami on Friday, said promoter Andrew Wasilewski, to meet with Don King. We have been invited and may make a deal for Wlodarczyk, Dawid Kostecki, Bonin and others. Our planned show in Chicago in August is postponed though but we are back in Poland with two shows in September.”

The WBC Youth title was at stake but had – according with the WBC rules – been declared vacant had Keaton won.
