15.06.05- British Heavyweight Champion Matt Skelton has promised to punch challenger Danny Williams into retirement when they meet at the Bolton Arena on Saturday 16 July. The Bedford brawler has KO’d all but one of his 16 opponents with his brutal relentless style and is now even more confident of stopping former champion Williams after the Brixton puncher revealed that he is prepared to stand and trade with him.
Unbeaten Skelton said, “If Danny wants to go to war with me that’s fine, I can’t wait. Danny is a man living on the memories of beating a faded Mike Tyson and he won’t be able to do what he did to him against me. Everyone seems to have forgotten the beating he took from Sinan Samil Sam and we all saw the real Danny when he fought Vitali Klitschko for the world title and he certainly was dynamite everytime Klitschko landed on his jaw – he exploded on the canvas. What will I do to him?”
“I hear Danny is pushing cars up hills to build up his strength, I remember the last British heavyweight who claimed he was pushing cars – Matthew Ellis – where is he now?”
“I may not even go toe-to-toe with him, I may decide to box and teach him lesson but either way this is a fight that he cannot win,”
“One things for sure, Danny will retire after the fight but at least he will go out with happy memories of beating a washed up Tyson,”
“I am the proud British champion and I am willing to be carried out my shield – are you Danny?”
Skelton-Williams headlines a fantastic fight card that also features the sensational professional debut of Olympic Silver Medallist Amir Khan in a four round lightweight contest.
Chorley star Michael Jennings challenges Birmingham’s Jimmy Vincent for the Vacant British Welterweight Championship. Sheffield’s former record breaking British Light-Middleweight champion Ryan Rhodes, Margate’s former WBU Light-Middleweight Champion Takaloo and Welsh star Tony Docherty complete the card.
