Olympian Jason Estrada returns Aug. 26 in Providence

PROVIDENCE (August 18, 2005) – In his first six-round match, 2004 U.S. Olympian Jason “Big Six” Estrada (3-0, 1 KO) faces his toughest opponent as a pro, Bahamian heavyweight Jerry “Big Daddy” Butler (3-1, 3 KOs), in the Special Attraction on “CES’ Prime Time Fights,” August 26 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence..

Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc (CES), in association with Mohegan Sun, presents “CES’ Prime Time Fights.”

“I’m excited to be fighting in my first six rounder,” Estrada said. “I’m in against a big guy with a good record. I really appreciated the huge reception I received in my last fight in Providence and I’m going to get the crowd going again. I’m anxious to make a name in the heavyweight division and hope to be rated next year.”

Estrada, the first boxer to win both the U.S. Nationals and U.S. Challenge three years (2001-2003) in a row, was a Gold Medal winner at the 2003 Pan-American Games. The 24-year-old from Providence takes on a true power puncher in Butler, whose three wins have all come by knockout.

“I’m really happy to give our Olympian – Jason Estrada – the opportunity to fight in his first six-round match,” promoter Jimmy Burchfield added. “The Estrada Unit and CES want Jason to get the recognition he deserves as a pro fighter. Butler is much bigger than Jason. He’s coming from The Bahamas with the reputation as a powerful puncher. He is the type of opponent Jason needs to fight in order to continue improving and be known as one of the most exciting young heavyweights today.”
