This is the first time both professional boxing bouts and professional martial arts matches will be presented on the same card.
“No promoter has done this before,” said Jay Hassman, vice president of Guilty Boxing.
“This is an ambitious undertaking to say the least, but when you consider there are a minimum of seven championship bouts and matches on the card, it becomes very significant as well,” said Hassman.
Sherk of Minneapolis faces Joel “The Silver Babyback” Blanton of Indianapolis for the World Kickboxing Association United States Mixed Martial Arts lightweight championship.
Other title matches include Surapon “Khunpon” Dechkampu of Atlanta against Chris Ngimbi of Amsterdam for the WKA Interncontinental Muay Thai super welterweight championship; Steve Headden of Atlanta against David Kaplan of Arlington, Va., for the WKA United States MMA welterweight title; Rafael Dias of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., against Dwyane “Diesel” Shelton of Richmond, Va., for the WKA Eastern Regional MMA lightweight crown; and Paulo Dantes of Fort Lauderdale against Mike Easton of Camp Springs, Md., for the WKA Eastern Regional MMA bantamweight championship.
The two 12-round boxing title bouts include Sultan Ibragimov of Miami, Fla., defending his World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific heavyweight championship against Friday “The 13th” Ahunanya of Las Vegas and Ebo Elder of Newnan, Ga., dubbed “The X-treme Machine,” in a World Boxing Association lightweight
title-elimination bout.
The winner meets current WBA 135-pound champion Juan Diaz in a mandatory title bout.
