25.08.05 – In a lot of ways, IBF Cruiserweight Champion O’Neil Bell is old-fashioned. He lets his fists do the talking in the ring, he believes in class and sportsmanship, and unlike many today, he thinks that a World Champion should be just that – a champion of the world. “You see so many fighters today who are just content to fight comfortable fighters from familiar settings,” said Bell. “As a World Champion, I want to fight the best fighters in the WORLD, not just the best fighters from the United States.”
On August 26, at the Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida, Bell (24-1-1, 22 KOs) will continue on his quest to fight the best challengers from around the globe when he defends his world title for the first time against South Africa’s Sebastiaan Rothmann (18-3-2, 12 KOs).
“Rothmann is a tough fighter, but I believe he’s tailor-made for my style,” said Bell, who has now adopted the nickname, ‘Supernova’ for his explosive energy in the ring. “I’m looking forward to an exciting win on August 26, and then I will pursue the unification of the Cruiserweight Championship.”
A resident of Atlanta, Georgia, Bell was one of the most avoided fighters in the sport until he finally got his shot at the world title in May of 2005. In that bout for the vacant crown, Bell scored a hard-fought 12 round decision over Canada’s Dale Brown, and now his sights are set on further world domination.
“I’ve beaten the best fighters the United States has to offer, at least the ones who had the courage to face me,” said Bell. “I beat Canada’s best in Dale Brown, and now I will defeat South Africa’s best Cruiserweight in Rothmann. After that, I’ve got my eyes on France and Jean-Marc Mormeck, because I want to unify these titles and give the boxing fans one Cruiserweight Champion.”
“HEAVYWEIGHT HEAT”, an evening of world class professional boxing presented by Warriors Boxing Promotions, Inc., in association with Cedric Kushner Promotions and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, takes place on Friday, August 26, at the Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida. The card will be televised live on Showtime Pay-Per-View beginning at 9pm ET / 6pm PT.

Also on the card will be unbeaten Junior Welterweight sensation Juan Urango, who tangles with Brooklyn’s Andre Eason. Not to mention up and coming fellow Colombian, Edison “Pantera” Miranda as he looks to let his heavy –hands fly when he takes on Hailrio Guzman.
