The Path Of A Spiritual Warrior

Yoga Retreat with Sumya ‘The Island Girl’ Anani, 4x world champion fighter & RYT 500 yoga teacher -December 7-14, 2005 ~ Negril, Jamaica

12.09.05 – The myth of the warrior is a metaphor for all of us. The warrior’s journey is a quest of discovery of Self. It is a quest for authenticity and fulfillment. Ultimately, it is a path of self-revelation. The spiritual warrior’s quest is to KNOW THYSELF and to understand his or her place in the world. Each of us is a spiritual warrior, and the battle is within our own hearts and our own minds. “Better to conquer yourself than others.” ~ The Dhammapada. Yoga focuses on transforming the individual. With the courage of a warrior, we choose consciously to engage ourselves boldly in the daily battle of becoming who we really are.beings of love, understanding, and compassion.

The real power is within, and the opportunity for transformation on the outer realm must begin first at the inner realm.

Yoga puts us on an authentic path of discovering that power within. This is The Path of A Spiritual Warrior. It is a conscious walk on the spiritual path. “As soon as a person starts thinking, ‘I want to be a better person,’ that’s the start of yoga.” ~ Baba Hari Dass

Gandhi said “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Now more than ever, we all must look within to explore our own minds and hearts. We must begin to transform ourselves to “be the change.” Only then will we see radical transformation in the world.

The Path of A Spiritual Warrior will be led by 4X World Champion fighter Sumya Anani. It will be an immersion for all levels into the Yoga practices of posture, meditation, breathing, chanting, and Yoga Sutra study. It will be a time for reflecting, laughing, sharing, and creating.

The Path of A Spiritual Warrior will be seven star-filled nights and 6 gorgeous days in Negril, Jamaica, home to a world famous 7-mile white sand beach. Negril is located on the western tip of Jamaica, and consequently home to some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

The days are filled with a transformative all-levels yoga class. You can fill the rest of your leisure time with:

I know there is an Island Girl or Island Boy in all of us. My son and I lived in Negril in 1994 and 1995 and that is where I got the ring name ‘The Island Girl.’ My move to Jamaica was my first move out of my mom’s house in Kansas. What a move, huh!! I feel like I took my first conscious steps on the spiritual path in Jamaica, so there a lot of special memories there for me. This trip will create more lifetime memories. I want to share my love for yoga and my love for Jamaica with you everyone.

I hope you join me in sunny Negril to ride the sweet rhythms of sun, sand, & reggae. It will be a time of fun, friendship, introspection, and seeking ‘the spiritual warrior’ within.

My website www.sumya.com will be updated soon with more specifics about the retreat.

Peace & Love,
Sumya ‘The Island Girl’ Anani
