04.03.06 – Thompson Boxing Promotions is proud to announce the signing of super featherweight Dominic Salcido to an exclusive promotional agreement. Salcido, (7-0, 4 KOs) from Rialto, is considered as one of the best California prospects in his division. The talented Salcido started boxing at the age of 10 when his father took him to a gym out of curiosity. He laced the gloves and was fascinated by the sport..
“He was a great soccer player,” said his father Dominic Sr. “When he started to box he used his feet and moved a lot in the ring.” Salcido had a fair amateur record but he developed a beautiful boxing style that made him popular enough to travel to Tahiti and Mexico for different amateur tournaments.
“We are extremely excited to add Dominic Salcido to the Thompson Boxing Promotions roster,” said Ken Thompson from his Orange County based office. “We have been following Dominic from the beginning and he fought for us in numerous occasions since turning pro, but now we have a purpose and we know he has the necessary talent to become a world champion,” added Thompson. Salcido was featured in Thompson’s cards four times during his short career and became a local attraction when he fought in Ontario, only miles away from home.
Dominc Salcido has been a regular sparring partner of world champions such as “Sugar” Shane Mosley, Vernon Forrest, Marco Antonio Barrera, Robbie Peden, and Vivian Harris to name a few. Always solicited for his sleek style and high energy punching, Salcido trained with some of the best boxers thus developing his unique talent.
“This is the best present I can receive,” said Salcido after signing his promotional agreement on his birthday. “I will be able to solidify my career and make my dreams come true. I will work even harder to achieve my goals,” concluded Dominic.
Thompson Boxing Promotions successfully promotes two other Southern California boxers, WBC Continental Americas Lightweight Champion Josesito Lopez (16-1, 9 KOs), from Riverside; and WBC Youth Welterweight Champion Timothy Ray Bradley Jr. (11-0, 6 KOs), from Palm Springs.
Dominic Salcido will have his Thompson Boxing Promotions debut when he fights in a six—round special attraction bout on Friday, March 31 at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario. Tickets are available for purchase at $75, $45, and $30 by calling 714.935.0900 or by visiting www.thompsonboxing.com
