(Rocky Ford, Colorado, March 20th, 2006, Gladiator Sports Management & Marketing) Zeferino Ramirez and his promotional company JewBoy Promotions are bringing live professional boxing to Rocky Ford, Colorado, hometown to David Medina, Marvin Cordova and his sister Chantell. This will be a great night of boxing featuring some of Colorado’s finest. The 5 bout fight card is scheduled for March 24th at the Arkansas Field House. All the fighter’s contracts have been signed and the final match ups are set..
The main event of the evening will feature undefeated super lightweight prospect Marvin “Much-2-Much” Cordova in a 6 rounder with durable journeyman Julian Romero. Cordova is on a steadfast path to the top under the guidance of Team Cordova which includes his trainer/father, Marvin Cordova Sr., his advisor/mother Sherry Cordova and his promoter Zeferino Ramirez. Cordova has quickly run his record to a perfect 8-0 with 5 big wins coming by knock out and will be looking to add to both totals.
The co-main features another up and coming prospect in once beaten super middleweight, David “Strictly Business” Medina. Medina is scheduled in a six rounder against Kaliff Shabazz. Shabazz should provide a stern test as he is a veteran of more than 25 fights including a loss to former middleweight kingpin, Bernard Hopkins. Medina is on a very impressive 7 fight winning streak, including 5 by way of knock out, after losing his pro debut. He has been very busy fighting 8 times in 2005 and he will look to keep his streak alive.
The featured bout of the evening will showcase the professional debut of Chantell “Gorgeous Babe” Cordova. Chantell had a stellar amateur career which included back to back gold medal performances at US Championships, one of the country’s biggest invite only tournaments. She will ride that momentum into her professional debut against Unity Young who will be making her debut as well. This bout is scheduled in the 105 pound straw weight division.
The undercard will provide some of the best action Colorado has seen as super welter weight war horses Tefo Seetso and Julio Lanzas meet in what is expected to be an all out war. Seetso is coming off of a bit of a layoff having last fought in November on the Floyd Mayweather under card in Portland. Lanzas is coming in red hot having fought twice in January coming away with a win and a draw. Both fighters like to stand in the middle of the ring and trade power shots, throwing defense to the wind, which will provide for a fan friendly fight that is sure to end in a knock out.
Finishing up the card will be pro debuter Zack Quezada taking on trial horse Tyree Tidwell in a four rounder at junior middle weight.
The JewBoy shows are always well matched and produce some great fights that keep the fans coming back for more. Tickets are available at the Arkansas Field House box office or by calling 702-349-5743.
