At the end of ten torrid rounds, the 20-year-old Escalante emerged victorious via a unanimous decision and proved that he was truly one of the top young fighters in the world, regardless of weight class.

“Fighting Jose was a huge step up for me but Golden Boy Promotions had a great deal of confidence in me and that really motivated me. Juan Ruiz is another big step, it’s my first twelve rounder. But I’m very well prepared, physically, mentally and spiritually” said Antonio.

Commenting on his promoter’s fight this Saturday night, Escalante stated, “Oscar’s a terrific boxer and he’s smart enough to stay away from Mayorga’s brawling style. I think he’ll win decisively.”

Said Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions, “We’re thrilled to bring back Antonio to Chicago. Our fans were overwhelmed with his bout against Jose and they’re very excited that he’s returning on May 12th.”
