NEW ORLEANS, May 12—Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins promised that he would be bigger for his June 10th fight with Antonio Tarver at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and live on HBO Pay-Per-View. But even he didn’t know how big he could get until he saw his larger than life likeness hanging from the Sheraton New Orleans hotel where Hopkins is training.
The hotel, located in downtown New Orleans, has hung a 25′ x 25′ cling wrap image of Hopkins next to the Canal Street side front entrance. “After Katrina, having someone like Bernard Hopkins choose New Orleans to train for his next big fight, means a lot to the people and the continuing recovery of the City,” said Tommy Morel, Director of Marketing Sheraton New Orleans. “The people that pass by the hotel, which is a very busy area, know he is here supporting the city which in turn gives their spirits a tremendous lift.”
“I don’t think I have ever seen myself that big before,” said Hopkins. “And trust me, on June 10th, Tarver’s going to think I am that big too.”
Tickets for Tarver vs. Hopkins priced at $750, $600, $400, $200, $100 and $50, are on sale now and can be purchased at the Boardwalk Hall Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations by calling 800-736-1420 or at www.ticketmaster.com.
