17.05.06 – Promoter Frank Warren has just added another title fight to the Sports Network super-show at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 8th July bringing it to a total of seven big-titles on the line. Boxing super-star Joe Calzaghe headlines the Homecoming show with a defence of his WBO and IBF Super-Middleweight titles and the latest addition features his stable mate Gavin Rees who takes on Scotsman Martin Watson for the Vacant Celtic Lightweight Title..
Rees joins the biggest boxing show ever staged in Wales and will join Danny Williams who takes on Matt Skelton in a potentially explosive rematch for the Commonwealth Heavyweight title. Swansea KO king Enzo Maccarinelli defending his WBU World Cruiserweight crown. Massive middleweight punchers Gary Lockett and Ryan Rhodes collide for the WBU title. Silky skilled Bradley Pryce makes the first defence of his Commonwealth Light-Middleweight title whilst an all-Welsh clash pits Tony Doherty against Taz Jones for the Celtic Welterweight title.
If that isn’t enough for the fight fan, Olympic Silver Medallist Amir Khan features as special attraction.
Rees stopped tough Yorkshireman Daniel Thorpe in five rounds in May and his aggressive come forward style has taken him to an unbeaten 23 fight record but he has a tough fight ahead of him against Watson.

“It’s the biggest show ever held in Wales and I will be proud to look back when I’ve retired and say that I boxed on that show,”
