Prize Fight Network Looks To The Future

13.09.06 – Several years ago we couldn’t imagine a world with internet and e-mail technology. Today, we can barely survive without it. John Daddono is betting that soon sports fans will see their boxing the same fast and expeditious way….on the WEB. Daddono’s prizefightnetwork.com is the leader in webcasting men’s boxing, women’s boxing and MMA events. Both live and archived, fans of both sports are discovering PFN and enjoying it..

There’s no big secret on how to view programs on PFN. “Users” simply log onto prizefightnetwork.com and select the fight they want to see from dozens of archived shows. When it’s live, the procedure is similar. If any additional software is needed, the user can download it for free very quickly. At this time there has been no charge for programming on PFN but for some shows in the future, that might change. Revenue streams for PFN are obtained several ways. One avenue is advertising in and around the programs. This can be seen on ring mats, bill boards, round clocks, traditional commercial spots and ads on the web site itself.

Another source of income for the site is promoters that desire nationwide and worldwide exposure for their regional shows. For a nominal fee PFN will web cast their fight cards and if they don’t have TV production done already, PFN will also do an economical production on their state of the art digital, portable equipment. Finally PFN is looking towards worldwide pay per view distribution on both a live and delayed basis and may be experimenting with an event as early as November.

While most of PFN’s events have emanated from Florida, negotiations are in hand for venues in New York and Las Vegas and other markets as well. And PFN recently they made an agreement to carry and archive all “A Ring Of Their Own” all women’s boxing series bouts.

Joining Daddono at the helm of PFN is 30-year cable and pay per view veteran Arnie Rosenthal. Rosenthal feels that what is happening on “the net” today is analogous to the early days of cable, only more so. “This reminds me of cable TV in the late 1970’s when all the networks were first forming but now it’s on a world wide level and very economical”, said Rosenthal.

Daddono, also the founder of the International Boxing Organization, a major governing body, sees the “web” as the future for martial arts. “Too many fighters and promoters are being shutout from basic cable. We enable everyone to get an equal opportunity to be seen not only in his or her backyard but also around the globe. And we make it affordable.” So for PFN, the fighters, the sponsors, and the promoters, the time is now. The technology is at the fingertips for thousands and thousands of boxing and martial arts fans worldwide.
