De La Hoya Adds Escobedo to ‘Cicero Chill’

05.11.06 – 2004 US Olympian super featherweight Vicente Escobedo will face Ramon Guevara this Friday night, November 10th at CICERO CHILL, it was announced today by Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions and Dominic Pesoli of 8 Count Productions. The eight bout world class CICERO CHILL professional boxing card, broadcast internationally on SOLO BOXEO De Miller, is presented by 8 Count Productions and Golden Boy Promotions, along with Miller Lite and TCF Bank..

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 5:30pm with the first bell at 6:30pm. Tickets, starting at $30, are on sale in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

Said De La Hoya about the eight round Escobedo/Guevara matchup; “Vicente Escobedo is a young man whose career I’ve been following since he was an amateur, and after he represented the US in the 2004 Olympics, I knew we had to sign him for Golden Boy Promotions.”

On his opponent: “Guevara is a good, decent opponent with more experience than me, but I’m going to win again, impressively. I’m excited to get back in the ring, feeling strong, and to remind Chicago when I come back, to lookout for Vicente Escobedo.”

The open to the public weigh-in for this event will be held on Thursday November 9th at Las Islas Maria’s Restaurant located at 6550 W. Fullerton in the Brickyard Mall on the northwest side of Chicago.

The Master of Ceremonies for this event will be the internationally recognized voice of Latino boxing, Lupe Contreras.
