BOSTON, Mass. (December 7, 2006) – Professional boxing returns to downtown Boston on Friday night, December 15 as the Alpha Omega Entertainment Group presents “Battle Zone at The Castle.” The Alpha Omega Entertainment Group, in association with Sprint/Nextel and NESN, is promoting Battle Zone at the Castle. The show will be taped live and aired in January on NESN.. Ed Berliner handles the blow-by-blow call with boxing historian Mike DeLisa as color commentator. IBA World middleweight champion “Ireland’s” John Duddy (18-0, 15 KOs), winner of prestigious Rocky Marciano Award as AAIB’s 2006 “Fighter of the Year, serves as a special color analyst.
The 8-round main event matches two-time Venezuelan Olympian Patrick “El Elegante” Lopez (8-0, 6 KOs) against junior welterweight Agustin Velez (7-1, 4 KOs).
Veteran junior middleweight Frank Houghtaling was supposed to fight 20-0 Jason LeHoullier, who was injured in sparring and has been replaced by former Massachusetts State junior welterweight title challenger Jimmy “The Dream” LeBlanc (11-10-4, 3 KOs), in the 8-round co-feature. Houghtaling (18-12-5, 4 KOs) has a win against former world champion Livingstone, Bramble and has been in against former world champions Sharmba Mitchell and Daniel Santos.
The fightin’ Clancy brothers, unbeaten heavyweight James Clancy and undefeated cruiserweight Mark Clancy are in a pair of 6-round bouts. The Clancys were born in Claire, Ireland and now live in Boston. Five-time Irish National amateur champion James (8-0, 1 KO) faces former UBC International cruiserweight title-holder John Battle (14-17-1), while four-time Irish National finalist Mark (5-0-1, 1 KO) meets ex-Massachusetts State cruiserweight champion John “House of Rain” Rainwater (10-13, 3 KOs), of Worcester (MA).
Worcester’s (MA) hot junior middleweight prospect, knockout artist Enrique “El Palo” Palau (6-0, 5 KOs), takes on former Massachusetts State super middleweight champion Hollister Elliott (7-16-1, 2 KOs), fighting out of Dorchester (MA), in another scheduled 6-rounder.
Also fighting on the undercard is New Bedford (MA) junior welterweight Jose Colon (1-0) versus Jeff “The Hawk” Farmer (1-2), fighting out of Holyoke (MA), in a 4-round match.
