Williamson response to Liakhovich-Toney rumors

17.03.07 – By DaVarryl Williamson: In response to the rumors of a potential James Toney – Sergei Liakhovich fight: Sergei. I used to think you had a ton of heart, I came to respect you, came to respect your heart, and came to respect your abilities in the ring, but I can’t respect this “mouthpiece” of yours. Is this Ivaylo talking, or are you talking from behind his skirt? Is this your decision, or your sycophant manager’s decision? (I’ll save you the trouble of pulling out the dictionary, it means “kiss-ass”, Ivaylo)..

Why don’t you just admit that they don’t want to fight me because I’m a much more dangerous fight than a shot James Toney?

The White Wolf is behaving more like a domesticated dog. They want to say that I was 50% responsible for the most boring fight in heavyweight history? What has his last fight with Briggs? The most excitement came in the last 15 seconds of the fight and that was watching Sergei pick himself up off the scorer’s table. Don’t play games Ivaylo, just man up and admit the truth. Just say that DaVarryl Williamson is TOO dangerous for us, we don’t want Sergei getting knocked out again! It’s too dangerous a fight to come back to! We can all respect that

I do find it funny though that you got knocked out in your last fight, so your “meaningful” return fight is against a fomer middleweight at the end of his career, who currently has no ranking and hasn’t won by KO in over three years. James Toney brings a couple dollars to the table, I’ll admit that, but don’t run around saying that I’m a meaningless fight, I can’t imagine HBO or SHOWTIME tripping over themselves to make a fight between two guys that lost their last outings. You don’t want the fight, that’s fine, I’ll happily move on to someone else that has the backbone to get in with a live dog and fight for a meaningful position in the heavyweight division.

Sergei, I’m ready to sign a contract and put my money where my mouth is, you pick the date, you pick the location, I enjoy the warm weather in Scottsdale and my passport is valid if you want to take this to Vitebsk, Belarus.

Man up, Sergei, take the fight or admit it’s too risky for you.

I’m tired of these heavyweight hiding behind their managers and claiming “polictical asylum” when its time to take a real fight.
