A native of Los Mochis, the same Mexican city that produced world champion Fernando Montiel, Cazares (24-3-1, 18 KOs) joined this exclusive club when he out-pointed Nelson Dieppa in April 2005 to win the WBO light flyweight title. It was a dream come true for the hard-punching 29-year-old, who has been fighting world-class competitors for almost as long as he has been in the sport. Since winning the crown, the exciting southpaw has defended his title four times, most recently stopping Dieppa in the 10th round of their rematch September 30, 2006.
Perez (23-1-3, 16 KOs), the World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino champion from Cartagena, Colombia, has battled each opponent placed in front of him as he worked his way to the top of the world rankings. The 28-year-old Perez is eager to make his mark on the boxing scene with a win over Cazares on May 4.
Bojado (16-2, 11 KOs), the 2000 Mexican Olympian is looking to regain the fighting style that had fight insiders calling him the “next great fighter to reign from Mexico.” Returning to the ring for the first time since a split decision loss to Jesse James Leija in 2004, the 23-year-old Bojado is young, dangerous and ready to ascend to the top of the junior welterweight division. His opponent has yet to be determined.
Also featured on the “Fiesta Boxeo” card are unbeaten prospects Lucas Matthysee (16-0, 15 KOs), Euri Gonzalez (13-0, 9 KOs) and Anthony Martinez (3-0, 3 KOs). Opponents for these hard-hitting fighters will be announced in the near future.
