15.04.07 – Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions finishes out an outstanding month of world class professional boxing this Friday night, April 20th by presenting JUDGEMENT DAY at Cicero Stadium as two of the hottest young undefeated prospects in the sport, Abner Mares and Jonathan Oquendo return to Chicago. Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 5:30pm with the first bell at 6:30pm. Tickets are available in advance by calling 312-226-5800.
In the main event 21 year old Mexican native Abner Mares, 11-0 (7KO’s), now fighting out of Montebello, California will face Columbian veteran Angel Priolo, 30-5 (20KO’s) in a scheduled twelve round bout for the WBO NABO Bantamweight Title.
This is the second appearance in Chicago for Mares, his first being an eight round decision over Kevin Hudgins at the Aragon Ballroom on September 15, 2006. In his last fight Mares beat Robert Allanic on March 2, 2007 in Philadelphia, PA.
Priolo has faced former world champions Jorge Arce, Brian Viloria and Irene Pacheco amongst the battles in his 10 year career.
In the co-main event, all action Puerto Rican super bantamweight Jonathan Oquendo, 12-0 (7KO’s) will face Mexican veteran Oscar Andrade, 35-26-1 (18KO’s) in a ten round bout.
The twenty three year old Oquendo is making his third appearance in Chicago, taking a decision over Paulino Villalobos on September 15, 2006 at the Aragon Ballroom and knocking out Terrance Roy on January 27, 2006 at Cicero Stadium. In his last bout Oquendo stunned former world title challenger Alejandro Montiel with a first round knockout on December 16, 2006 in Puerto Rico.
Andrade, a sixteen year veteran, has faced former world champions and highly ranked fighters including Michael Carbajal, Martin Castillo, Gerry Penelosa, Melchor Cob Castro, Gilberto Keb Baas and Cesar Morales in his career.
In a special attraction on JUDGEMENT DAY, Chicago favorite Mike Nevitt, 14-0 (5KO’s) will face Sacramento, California native, Otis Griffin, 16-1-2 (5KO’s) for the WBO NABO Light Heavyweight Title over twelve rounds. Griffin was the winner of FOX-TV’s The Next Champ boxing reality show in 2004.
Also appearing on the card is popular middleweight MACHO Miguel Hernandez, 19-5 (9KO’s) returning to fight in Chicago.

The weigh-in for this event will take place on Thursday, April 19th as Las Islas Marias, 6550 W. Fullerton on the northwest side of Chicago at 7pm. The Master of Ceremonies for this event will be the internationally recognized voice of Latino boxing, Lupe Contreras.
