Nevitt/Griffin This Friday Night In Chicago

16.04.07 – Chicago’s undefeated light heavyweight Mike “TENSION” Nevitt will face FOX-TV’s The Next Great Champ winner Otis “Triple OG” Griffin for the WBO NABO world championship this Friday night, April 20th, at Cicero Stadium in the featured attraction of JUDGEMENT DAY. JUDGEMENT DAY, an evening of world class professional boxing is presented by Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING and Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions along with TCF Bank and TECATE Beer..

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 5:30pm with the first bell at 6:30pm. Tickets are available in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

Nevitt, 14-0 with five knockouts has become one of Chicago’s most popular fighters since turning pro five years ago. The two time World Kickboxing Champion’s appearances are amongst the most hotly anticipated in the sport featuring a lights out ring walk of AC/DC’s Hells Bells.

In his last fight, Nevitt thrilled the huge St. Patrick’s Day crowd at Cicero Stadium with a dominating victory over Shawn Hammack.

Since winning The Next Great Champ in 2004, Griffin has supplanted himself as one of the most popular rising stars in boxing. His most recent battle was a decision win over Marcus Pernell on February 9, 2007 at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona.

The Nevitt/Griffin showdown will take place promptly at 9pm and will not be part of the SOLO BOXEO broadcast.

The weigh-in for this event will take place on Thursday, April 19th as Las Islas Marias, 6550 W. Fullerton on the northwest side of Chicago at 7pm.
