The thirty one year old Hernandez, 27-6 (16KO’s) has been amongst Chicago’s most popular fighters since bursting onto the scene in 1996, fighting numerous world class fighters in nationally televised bouts.

Said Pesoli, “The fans love Toro. He’s been in some terrific battles and he truly exemplifies a Mexican warrior in the ring with his never quit attitude. He’s had some time off the last couple of years but has been training diligently at our place (JABB Boxing Gym).”

Hernandez holds wins over former world champion Frankie Randall and former world title challengers J.C. Candelo and Anthony Jones over his eleven year career.

In his 14th professional bout he battled former world champion Wilfredo Rivera over ten outstanding rounds of boxing, dropping a very close decision in a non-televised war that has been talked about for years as one of the finest in Chicago boxing history.

In February 2004, Hernandez’s most recent nationally televised bout, TORO battled former world title challenger Raymond Joval at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona for eight rounds before the bout was stopped on cuts due to an accidental headbutt from Joval in the 4th round.

Although bleeding from the 5th round on, Hernandez pressed the action and strongly protested the stoppage which resulted in a split technical decision for Joval.
