NEW YORK (May 16, 2007) — Tickets in all price ranges go on sale Wednesday, May 16, for a sensational fight card Saturday, June 9, at The Connecticut Convention Center at Hartford, Conn. The main event of an outstanding fight card will feature the highly anticipated return of one of boxing’s most recognizable and talented pound-for-pound fighters, the legendary, former undisputed light heavyweight champion, Antonio “Magic Man” Tarver of Tampa, Fla.
An ex-International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight titleholder, Tarver (24-4, 18 KOs) will face Elvir Muriqi (34-3, 21 KOs) for the vacant International Boxing Organization (IBO) 175-pound crown. The New York-based Muriqi has won three in a row and 21 of his last 23.
In the co-main event, “Awesome” Chad Dawson (23-0, 15 KOs) of New Haven, Conn., will make the initial defense of his WBC light heavy belt against Mexico’s hard-hitting Jesus “Chuy’’ Ruiz (19-4, 17 KOs).
A top-notch undercard will feature three local, promising, crowd-pleasing boxers: rising Danbury (Conn.) welterweight Delvin Rodriguez, popular Hartford women’s prospect, Adelita Irizarry, and New Haven super middleweight Elvin Ayala.
A terrific event is presented by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing in association with Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, and AT Entertainment.
The doors open at 6 p.m. First fight is at 7 p.m.
