Let’s Get It On Promotions Announces “Collision Course” With Brinkley vs. Donnell Wiggins, Joey Spina for October 20th

Reno, NV September 10th, 2007 – Let’s Get It On Promotions is pleased to announce “COLLISION COURSE” on October 20th, 2007 at the Silver Legacy Hotel/Casino in Reno. The 10 round main event will feature The Contender season one star Jesse Brinkley (28-5 19 KOs) from Yerington, NV vs. seasoned boxing veteran Donnell Wiggins (24–9–3 14KOs) out of Covington, TN. Brinkley and Wiggins will be fighting at 168 lbs.

Brinkley is coming off of two straight wins. In June he scored a 6th round knock out against Luis Lopez (13-9) in Worley, ID. On July 6 th he came back to his home state and stopped the experienced Dallas Vargas in the 9th round of an exciting slugfest. Continuing to win is putting Brinkley’s name higher in the supper middleweight rankings. Brinkley is set to hit training camp once again in Rhode Island with trainer Peter Manfredo Sr., father of Peter Manfredo Jr. who gained worldwide exposure along with Brinkley on The Contender season one.

Donnell Wiggins (24-9-3 14KOs) is no stranger to the spotlight. He’s fought top competition in the super-middleweight and light heavyweight divisions including Jeff Lacy, Yusaf Mack and Lucian Bute. In fact, he was out-pointing Jeff Lacy on the judges’ scorecards before suffering an 8 th round knockout. On November 4th of 2006, Wiggins fought the tough Lawrence Chapman (19-4-1). The fight concluded and controversy followed as the bout was declared a draw. Both Wiggins and Brinkley are aware of what October 20 th means to their careers – an opportunity to reclaim their positions in the supper-middleweight division.

Let’s Get It On Promotions is also pleased to announce that added to the COLLISION COURSE card will be a fighter who Jesse Brinkley fans are very familiar with. The 8 round co-main event will feature current WBC–USNBC and former WBO – NABO super-middleweight champion Joey “the KO KID” Spina (19-1-1 14 KOs) from Providence, RI. Spina stopped Jesse Brinkley in the 11 th round on ESPN in May of 2006. ESPN’s commentator and world renowned trainer, Teddy Atlas, had Brinkley winning 7 rounds through 9. In the 11th, Spina caught Brinkley with a left hook to the body that sent him to the canvas. Noticeably hurt, the referee stepped in and called a halt to the contest. Spina then went on to fight his hometown rival, Peter Manfredo Jr. in October of last year. He suffered a 3 rd round knockout loss, his only defeat. With Spina in the ring again, could fight fans look forward to a rematch with Jesse Brinkley?

“We are currently speaking with CES Promotions and Team Spina about a possible rematch with Jesse.” Says Let’s Get It On Promotions’ Terry Lane. “It’s certainly a fight people want to see, but both fighters are focused on October 20 th. If I’ve learned anything growing up around this sport – looking past the fight that is front of you can be a catastrophic mistake.”

COLLISION COURSE will also feature top Northern Nevada fighters.

Up-and-coming Native American brothers Derek and Tyler Hinkey will appear on the card as well. Both Hinkeys are the first exclusive Let’s Get It On Promotions fighters. Derek (3-0 3KOs) stalked Jiovanni Rubio for two rounds before scoring a knockout in his last bout. Tyler (1-0 1KO), who made quick work of Dan Evensen with a first round knockout in his pro debut, is looking forward to stepping in the ring again. Both brothers are working with one of the nation’s top boxing trainers, Kenny Adams in Las Vegas.

“We are thrilled to be promoting a card like this.” Says Let’s Get It On Promotions’ Terry Lane. “We have some of the country’s best super-middles fighting to prove that they belong atop the rankings. You are not going to want to miss this!”

Further details about COLLISION COURSE will be announced as soon as information becomes available.
