Brähmer-Veit Rematch This Saturday

Super middleweight contender Jürgen Brähmer (29-1, 23 KOs) is set to make the first defense of his WBO Intercontinental belt against nemesis Mario Veit (49-3, 23 KOs) on September 15 at the Stadthalle in the ideallic Baltic seaside city of Rostock, Germany. The bout will be a rematch of the highly dramatic May 2006 collision in Munich between the Universum stablemates in which the former WBO interim champion Veit recovered from a first round knockdown to seize the WBC International title from Brähmer via majority decision..

It was the first loss for the previously unbeaten “100 Year Talent” Brähmer, who has since used what he learned in the bout against Veit to spectacularly knock out Francico Mora, then recover from a knockdown to defeat former world champion Hector Velazco in May.
Jürgen Brähmer at today’s pressconference: “Mario is a great fighter. My preparation for this fight was much more intense than ahead of the last one. Fighting near my hometown is an honor, it motivates me a lot.”

The experienced Veit, who will be seeking his 50th win, rebounded from his loss to unbeaten world-rated Dennis Inkin with a shutout win over Valentin Ochoa, and hopes to use another win over Brähmer as a springboard back into title contention.
Mario Veit: “I’m always excited and nervous ahead of my fights. That will never change although I had already 52 fights in my career. I always want to win.”

The undercard for the “Universum Champions Night” is loaded with talent.

In the first title defense of his WBO Intercontinental cruiserweight belt, spotlight boxing KO King Alexander Alekseev (11-0, 10 KOs) takes on Darrin “The Dawg” Humphrey (25-5).

Alexander Alekseev: “Darrin Humphrey is an experienced fighter and I have heard that he is good with throwing combinations and hard punches but I’m the faster one and take advatage of that.”

GBU junior banatamweight champion Alesia Graf (17-1, 8 KOs) will have a tough defense of her world title when she faces unbeaten Zulina “La Loba” Munoz (16-0, 15 KOs) of Mexico.

Alesia Graf: “My opponent is very hard hitting, her wins were were real knockouts but I have prepared myself very well with my coach Torsten Schmitz and I’m ready for this. I don’t care if she is a female wolf, I’m as the “Tigress” will beat them all.”

In another title fight, Universum light heavyweight Aleksy Kuziemski (12-0, 1 KOs) will face Julio Cesar Dominguez (17-2-1, 11 KOs) of Argentina for the vacant WBO Intercontinental belt.

In other action, unbeaten spotlight boxing super middleweight fighter Eduard Gutknecht (9-0, 6 KOs) battles Bernard Donfack (6-5-3), junior featherweight Zsolt Bedak (6-0, 2 KOs) faces Magomed Yadgarov (2-3) and featherweight Marcel Meyerdiercks makes his pro debut.
