20.09.07 – By Vivek Wallace: About a week ago ESB featured a piece entitled “It’s A ‘Shane’: A Look At Miguel Cotto’s Chances Against Shane Mosley.” After viewing the feedback and comments rendered, many – myself included – walked away wondering who the true favorite actually is going into the November showdown. Cotto fans argue his brave heart and incredible boxing skills, Mosley fans argue his experience and speed.
Both are great boxers who sit at the forefront of boxing’s ‘Battalion of Young Stallions’, the welterweight division, which remains the deepest in the sport today. Granted, there’s still slightly less than two months before the showdown, but that won’t stop us here at ESB from putting an ‘ear to the streetz’ to gauge thoughts from the average fight aficionado relative to this marquee matchup.
There will be two polls completed. One now, and another one days before the fight. This poll will go on from Friday, 9/21, thru Sunday, 9/23 at 10pm EST. On Monday, 9/24 there will be a post featuring a breakdown of the results . Each voter is to list three things: (1) Name of the fighter you expect to win, (2) How many rounds you expect the fight to go, and (3) How you see the fight playing out.
There will also be later polls conducted on the Mayweather/Hatton, Taylor/Pavlik , Kessler/Calzaghe, Holyfield/Ibragimov, Pacquiao/Barrera, and Jones/Trinidad fights. Poll dates to be determined.
